Great quality, works very well, stops insect pests in my coup
Quite expensive to buy but lasts a long time so quite good value I think and prevents any insect pests in my chicken coup

Great stuff. Don't waste time with flowers and spices.
This stuff is amazing. I dust my chicken and duck coops with it every week, as well as their dust baths and nesting boxes. I have a small farm in rural Texas and we get serious flies. This repels them and keeps the sour odors down. That herbal spice stuff is great for city chickens, but out here it doesn't do dittily squat. I like that its organic and doesn't harm the environment. I also use the wood shaving substrate in my compost pile so the PH tends to balance out the acidity of the wood.

Great product! So glad we found First Saturday
Worth every penny. We have been looking for something safe to be able to put down on our lawn after a different eco/pet safe company just disappeared a couple years ago. My husband came across this and we gave it a shot. So glad we did. Every year during the warm months we like to put something on our lawn and around our house just for extra protection against ants, fleas, ticks and other insects for our dogs (who are treated already) and our house. First Saturday Lime works and works well. It is safe for your animals (and kids). Just follow the simple directions on the bag and you will be good to go in no time. So glad we found First Saturday, we are so thankful for a company that cares about people and their pets.

Works awesome for the coop!
I put this in my chicken coop between the layers of shavings during winter. It helps with the smell significantly. Then I can keep layering the shavings to help contain the heat throughout winter. I love this stuff!

The Insect Deterrent 20LB Bag markets itself as a monthly insect shield, promising multi-purpose insect control for outdoor spaces, with a focus on preventing ants and other common insects. After using this product, here are my observations. One of the most appealing aspects of this product is its claim of being a multi-purpose solution. The idea of using a single product to deter a variety of insects is certainly attractive, especially for those of us who prefer a simple approach to pest control. In practice, I found that the deterrent was indeed effective against ants, which were noticeably less prevalent in the treated areas. However, its efficacy against other insects seemed to vary. While it did offer some reduction in the presence of flies and mosquitoes, the effect was not as pronounced as with ants. This suggests that the product may be more effective against certain types of insects than others, and users should have realistic expectations about its broad-spectrum capabilities. The monthly application is another key selling point. The convenience of applying the deterrent just once a month is a significant advantage over products that require more frequent applications. This feature is particularly beneficial for busy individuals who may not have the time or inclination to engage in constant pest control efforts. In my experience, the monthly application schedule was generally sufficient to maintain a reasonable level of insect control, although I did find that heavy rainfall could diminish its effectiveness, requiring a reapplication to maintain the desired level of protection. In summary, the Insect Deterrent 20LB Bag offers a convenient and effective solution for controlling ants and provides some level of deterrence against other common insects. Its multi-purpose nature and monthly application schedule make it a practical choice for homeowners looking to simplify their outdoor pest control efforts. However, users should be aware that its effectiveness may vary depending on the type of insect and environmental conditions, and should adjust their expectations accordingly. Overall, it’s a solid product that delivers on its core promises, but with some nuances to consider.

Reliable Bug Deterrent for Homeowners & Gardeners Wanting a Safer Option
Quick Verdict If you want a safe, non‑spray barrier to keep ants and crawling pests away from your home’s foundation and garden beds, First Saturday Lime delivers. It’s easy to apply, effective once the barrier is established, and the 20‑lb box offers great coverage for the price. What I Tested Duration: 1 month Environment: Garden beds, vegetable rows, fruit trees, and house foundation What I evaluated: Reduction in earwigs around vegetables Fewer ant trails around the base of the house Real‑World Results Noticeably fewer earwigs around young vegetable plants after two applications. Ant trails dropped significantly once I laid a consistent perimeter around the foundation. Good value — the 20‑lb box covers a surprisingly large area. Easy to apply — spreads smoothly and stays put when dry. Once the barrier is down, bug traffic decreases within a day or two. What I Wish I Knew Earlier Shipping delays: My delivery date changed multiple times due to back‑order issues, and it arrived about two weeks late. Storage matters: Humidity will cause clumping — keep a sealed tote ready for storage. You’ll need to reapply after heavy rain, especially in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a much safer alternative to spray pesticides, especially around edible plants and pets. Pros Keeps bugs away from newly transplanted vegetables and fruit trees Safer than chemical sprays 20 lbs covers a large area — great value Easy to apply around house foundations, garden beds, and coop areas Concerns You’ll use a lot if you’re in a rainy climate Needs consistent reapplication to maintain the barrier Shipping delays can be frustrating Bottom Line If you’re a homeowner or gardener who wants a natural, effective, and pet‑safe way to deter ants, earwigs, and crawling insects, First Saturday Lime is absolutely worth it. Just be prepared to reapply after rain and store it properly to avoid clumping.
