So far ... So good
Amazon is requesting I post a review of this digital scale, which I got yesterday, and used only once. Primarially, I just wanted to accurately, and consistently weigh-out my morning coffee grounds. It's a nice looking scale, has two protective plastic covers, both of which can double as ingredient holders, but I'm choosing to use a separate containers. I like the auto-tare feature, which allows me to place the container on the scale before turning it on, then once turned on, shows ZERO weight. Nice. Clear numbers. I've determined 30 grams is the right amount of coffee grounds (for the way I like my coffee). As is explained in the directions, the scale is VERY sensitive, measuring in 10ths of a gram. The slightest 'breeze' (like just moving your hands to scoop in the coffee grounds) affects the display. It's easy, and I like the (presumed) accuracy. If anything changes, I'll update. The scale weighs up to 500 grams, which is just over one pound. I will ultimately be trying the scale to weigh out baking ingredients. So, so far, I'm very pleased with the purchase. Aesthetically, it's very nice. Let's just hope it lasts a good long while.

updated a second time! more stars.: here is the trick to setting the TARE
I gave it two stars because it worked pretty well from Jan 2015 til this week (June 2015), about 6 months of proper functioning. However, I am one of those people who expects items purchased to work correctly longer than 6 months! Here is the recent problem I have had: I use this as a gram scale to prepare precise pantone ink colors in 100 gram amounts for screen printing. Therefore the 0.1 gram accuracy is essential. For the first 6 mos it was very good at reporting 0.1 gram weights. The scale also has other modes such as ounces and PCS, but therein lies the problem!Recently, it refuses to STAY in the "gram" mode. I set it up and tare it for grams, add some weight, and it abruptly switches its mode to "PCS". When that happens it starts reporting weight at 10 PCS, then 20 PCS, and so on as I try to toggle (using the MODE button) it back to GRAMS. At some random point it will briefly report GRAMS before switching to a different mode such as OZ or ozt. Then it reverts to PCS. This makes weighing things a real pain.If the seller will please tell me how to fix this I will change this review. As such, the scale is no longer under warranty because I purchased it over 30 days ago. So I don't recommend this scale unless you are okay with things only working properly for 6 months.UPDATE: six months later, I have changed my 2 star to 3 stars. The scale has settled down and stays in gram mode. Now it no longer drifts, but rather, is hard to toggle out of gram mode. I figure I will just leave it there--in fact i don't dare switch it out of gram mode now. Also i learned a trick about setting the Tare to "0". Do not push the tare button with your finger. Instead, use a narrow, pointy object to press the tare button. gently press the tare button and quickly let go. it works with the point of a pencil, a drill bit, or the end of a paint brush. It also works with a crochet hook that my late mother gave me.I am not sure why this is happening. Perhaps the other reviewer is correct that the buttons are too firm to register. Or, perhaps pressing the button with a finger rocks the whole scale and prevents it from Tare-ing. I am pleased that the scale is still functioning at all!ANOTHER UPDATE: Okay. it is now May22, 2016. By God, this scale is still working very well!!! I am now going to give it 4 stars.Again, here is the trick. Do not EVER change it out of gram mode. Instead, set a container (I use a plastic cup) on it. Turn it on, ever so carefully by quickly tapping a crochet hook on the button. okay okay use a pencil point if you don't have a crochet hook---not everyone has a mom that bequeaths crochet hooks. The delicate "pointy thing" will turn on the display in gram mode and will display 0.00. Then add something to the plastic cup. (in my case it is screen printing ink base + 10% pigment.). The scale will accurately display the weight of each little droplet that you add. And it will be accurate! That, my friends, is all you can ask for when you buy a precise gram scale.Sorry 'bout the little glitch wherein it won't be as reliable if you try to measure ounces. If I manufactured this little scale, I'd sell it as a GRAM SCALE and would include a CROCHET hook in the package to turn it off and on.

I now brew the best tasting tea and coffee and save money to boot!
I always considered myself to be a precise person, but purchasing a scale like this seemed like a frivolous purchase destined to the corner of a drawer unused after the initial experimenting. I couldn't have been more wrong. My immediate intended use was in making tea and coffee. For coffee, I just used the recommended number of scoops of grounds for a pot of french press brew and for my new found interest in brewing loose green tea I just threw in what "looked about right" into the metal basket. Resulting brews were random but not bad. This first week of use of the scale has been a remarkable lesson in the wisdom of listening to the manufacturer's recommended ratios. The difference in taste and consistency has been remarkable and the scale couldn't make it easier to use. I put a container on the scale before I turn it on and once turned on it immediately registers the tare weight as zero. I use it repeatedly in the grams measure but another button allows that to be varied according to needs. The scale comes packaged with a clear plastic base it can be stored in as well as what I thought was a protective clear plastic cover for the scale bed, but later realized can remain over the bed surface for protection especially against moisture while using. I chose this scale because it was on a lightning deal and so was a few dollars cheaper for that day, but I can't imagine being more satisfied with another scale at any price. If you're like me and were on the fence as to if you will use this machine, the fact that you were even researching it means you'll likely repeat my experience and be amazed at how much you really do need it. I'm also appreciating that besides taste, I'll probably realize a savings by using a bit less, expensive green tea leaves so probably in a few months the scale will pay for itself. Highly recommended!

It worked great until it didn't
I make all natural body care and need to require precision to measure things like essential oils. This scale worked beautifully until the digital interface only showed the bottom of numbers - I'm now unable to see what the measurements are. I thought it was an issue with the batteries and put new ones in. Still didn't work. VERY disappointed. I've only had it about 7 months and now have to get a new scale.
