Really superb
I had a major dither buying this phone. A lot of this was caused by people saying there were issues with the battery life and other negative backchat. Honestly, battery is fine - at the end of a 'normal' day it is still saying 65%, which is fine by me. The cameras are - as everyone says - absolutely superb. I am a commercial photographer of 40 years and the images off this thing are incredible, believe me. I always buy phones with good cameras, but this sets a new standard. I bought my phone as an opened/returned unit from Amazon/Google. Saved £200 - unit is perfect, just a tiny mark on the box but who cares? Updates from Google have rolled in over last two weeks - it just gets better. Glass back is pretty but slippery as a wet fish, so I bought the genuine Google Pixel case in Parchment white to match my phone. Frankly overpriced but really nice in the hand and well made, so like other reviewers of this case have said - just pay the money, you won't regret it.

Awesome phone
Excellent phone at a great price. Still very happy with it over a year on from original purchase. A big upgrade on the Pixel 8a I was previously using, having made the mistake of picking up the 8a after I broke my Pixel 6 Pro, but I really missed the superior optical zoom. The fingerprint reader seems more reliable than the 8a, and the face unlock is also a bit quicker. I'll definitely be sticking with the Pixel Pro range in future.

Great phone.
Have been using this phone for 6 months now, it's great, easy to use, has everything I need and the camera is amazing. Thinking of getting my kids one each for Christmas as they've taken a shine to it too.

Switching from IOS ? Don’t bother
I just switched from a iPhone 14 Plus and I wished I hadn’t - I’ve had nothing but grief with my new pixel 8 pro - Fresh out of the box it looks great and the Bay colour is fantastic - but the phone was a nightmare from the very start. The software was horrendous, I bought the pixel for the new AI features (best photo, top shot, the AI generated wallpaper) but none of them worked even after multiple updates. The android 14 operating system is terrible on the pixel - the weather app and google search bar cannot be moved from where they are on the screen - even Apple iOS is not that restrictive. The phone took 4 hours to charge even with my turbo Anker charger and when it was charging it got so hot I thought it would burst into flames. This phone is heavy ! It’s almost half a pound - with a case on it’s so heavy it was pulling my trousers down. The camera bump on the rear is massive and very protruding. The camera app is also not great - it’s not as user friendly as the iPhone and low light photos are very poor. The fingerprint reader hardly ever worked (even though I registered 4 different fingers) and the face unlock only ever worked in bright sunlight. Texting was great and the options for keyboards, wallpaper, themes and fonts was incredible- so many styles to choose from. But you cannot set your own ringtone or text tones for certain people. My iPhone would let me assign different tunes for each of my contacts so I knew who was trying to call/text just by listening to the tune - pixel restricts you to there own tune and tones. The pixel has a bright and clear screen with high brightness and fantastic sound - it’s brilliant for watching movies and listening to music and having so many years of updates is fantastic support. It’s a real quandary for me - this pixel really is a case of a gold plated poop. It’s amazing and garbage at the same time.
