The puller works great and at £20.20 is fantastic value. There were no instruction in the package on how to operate, but a quick look on the internet I found a video on YouTube on how to operate a winch very similar to this one, from pulling the cable out, cranking the handle to releasing the tension, all very simple. Great bit of kit.

Taking in earlier reviews I greased the full length of the cable before use. It took a little while to get used to the locking and unlocking but it was fine once I got the hang of it. In practice it did just what I needed pulling out some bush roots.

I got this tool to pull my caravan out of a boggy paddock and this it did effectively. The mechanism is very tight after unboxing so I would advise slackening off the 'axle' nut and dropping some oil down each side. Also not obvious is the position of the spring which needs sliding up to release the ratchet handle. Try a few test runs to loosen up the cable before using it in earnest.

I bought this to assist with tree felling. It certainly moves felled trees, but to release the mechanism, while under tension, one has to stick a finger into the mechanism (not recommended) either to depress the ratchet catcher, or to move the location of the spring on the handles (also not safe). Therefore, to release tension I undo one of the two ropes which the winch is attached to. This works. The winch is therefore usable, and at the low price charged, one cannot complain. The product is cheaply made and badly designed , but it does extract felled trees, but because of the safety issues, I could not recommend it.

For the money great piece of kit I bought this to get my car out of a very muddy and wet area it was in very deep, this ratchet puller made very easy work of it. Would highly recommend this tool 10/10 the only thing i would say is that it could do with some instructions

I bought this winch to help me get a couple of tree stumps out of the ground. For the price I wasn't holding out much hope of success but I was very pleasantly surprised how well it coped. I gave it a good overhaul and ludricated all the parts when it arrived and it performed very well. It is a bit of a pain in the posterior to release the tension on the pulley but once I got the hang of it there was no problems. All in all a very good buy, which saved me a load of money getting a tree surgeon in.
