It works great

This product does everything I wanted it and I am sure a lot more. Got it to check the surface temp of my terracotta wood fire pizza oven. Obviously if you point it at fire it says hot… but what you can measure with this tool is the surface temp of the cooking surface. This helps you know if you should put in another pizza or first stoke the flames or add some wood. If you dont want your pizza to stick to the oven then you need this tool.When you pick it up it’s off. When you press the trigger it initiates the temp reading. Takes a second at first press, but if you just wait a second with the red light pattern on the spot you want to check it will take a reading without pressing a second time. When you let go of the trigger it will record and hold the reading for a few seconds so you can read and think.My pizza game has greatly improved with adding this infra red thermometer.

Gets thrown off by ambient temp swings… have to wait a while to use if you go from inside to outside or vice versa.

easy to use

I got the IR7D unit and it turns on, and seems to work. The detailed "Operation Manual" is 7 pages long and has an "Emissivity Reference Chart" as page 8. I have no way to verify the accuracy at high temperatures, so I cannot comment on accuracy. Finally, it is made in China....

I bought this unit so I could see if electronics and electrical devices were over heating, such as checking the bearings on the alternator, and even cooking food, so far so good. It is made well and the screen is easy to read and the carrying case is a real plus. I'm Happy! :>)

Highly recommended for use!

The one we used to have was also easy to use but it was cheaply made. This one is better made. What I like most is that it's very easy to read.
