Excellent quality watch for a good price
This is a beautiful watch that looks expensive but is very reasonably priced. The Arabic numerals are in a retro-styled font that, to me, says 1960’s. I can imagine this watch on the wrist of Paul Newman in “Winning.” Never having owned an analog chronograph watch with tachometer, I had to read up on it to understand how it worked. The manual at the Times website was helpful, but there are other online sources that explain the functions more thoroughly. Something that stumped me a little at first was the dial at the 3o’clock position. What is it? It’s a 24 hour clock, hard to read, but gives you the hour if you need to know quickly what hour it is in 24 -hour time. And finally, one thing I’d like to note about the band is that it’s very high quality, thick leather. I’m a man with a smaller wrist and often have to take up the band to the second to last hole to keep a watch from sliding around on my wrist. This one, I set at hole four and it is very solidly placed on my wrist, but comfortable, not tight at all. The case size at 40mm is also perfect for a smaller wrist, not too large but also not too small.

Unbelievable value!
Wow, I’m flabbergasted by the value of this watch. Modified panda (silver/black) chronograph with a retro vibe, even set to the right time and date. The strap is magnificent as well. Exceptional quality at this price point. Alignment of hands, and synchrony among hands, complications, and chronograph is perfect. Use of the pressers is weighted intentionally and feedback from pressers inspires confidence in starts, stops and resets. At just over a hundred dollars I could not be more pleased with this purchase. It’s among the best values for a watch in my collection. Super happy. I also want to give a shout out to Amazon for approving a price adjustment for this watch. The pice dropped by 15% the day after I bought it. I contacted customer service and they approved a refund of the difference. This made the value even better. Great job Amazon! If you are in the market for a chronograph that looks great and can be either dressed up or down, you can’t go wrong. And with a “takes a licking, keeps on ticking” heritage.

The Best Affordable Chronograph Period
This review is really about the value to watch and it is outrageous with this Timex Marlin. This watch punches way above its weight class in terms of looks. The dial is truly the reason I purchased the watch. It's gorgeous and I think you can dress it up and down. The strap does feel cheap but other people won't be able to tell from away and the case is acrylic vs sapphire so it won't be that scratch resistant. But that might be the only cons. I probably would have wish I chose the bracelet over the black leather strap if I could purchase it again. But at this price, oh my this watch is a monster. At this price it is quartz but that makes setting the watch and forgetting super convenient given the accuracy of quartz. The chronograph works fine but the real reason anyone is purchasing this watch is how it looks.

Great timepiece - Easy buy for me
More impressive in person, glad I bought this watch. It has a nostalgic feel to it and it’s versatile. A great piece to add to my collection. Only downfall is the strap that it comes with is of low quality.

Retro Timex
Super cool retro looking watch the domed face will scratch if you aren’t careful because it’s not made out of the best materials. Please note the metal band is very nice for the price and doesn’t pull your arm hair but will need resized on anyones arm. Mine came with no instructions whatsoever but I was able to buy a cheap toolset to take the pins out and fit to my wrist size. Other than that it’s a quality time piece for the price.

This is no longer a great watch *
I initially gave this watch a great review, which I left on here following this second addendum. Don't bother buying this watch. the crystal is too cheap. it has cracked and now scratched horribly. It was a good looking watch that looked like I paid more than I did for it. It now looks like I paid too much for it 20 years ago. I take good care of the things I own. Even so, this watch doesn't look that way. Here is my original review:For years my Dad wore a Marlin. When he woke up he would sit on the edge of his bed, wind his Marlin, put it on, and then his day would begin. He could afford nice things and didn't mind spending on a quality product. I used to wear a high-end popular Swiss brand on my wrist. One day while picking my watch up from being repaired at a jeweler with my Dad in tow, I suggested that he should have a nicer watch... I may have said that he deserved one, and gestured toward the display case. He looked at his wrist and smiled. "How many of those 'nicer watches' have been on the same wrist every day for over 40 years? I'll take a good watch over a nice one any day." Sometime later, my 'nice' watch wound up in the shop again. I bought a Timex Navi XL Automatic to wear while I waited. I love it. But, It is a casual watch. I bought this Marlin because it was subtle and classic and just by changing the bands I have a watch for any occasion. It is the kind of watch that people look twice at, I have gotten more compliments on it than I ever did on that 'nice' watch that now sits in a drawer. ****I do have one issue with this watch. The "crystal". At some point... and this is a watch that I wear with suits and more refined attire, not construction work or wrestling bears... the crystal cracked. The crack is very fine and you can barely see it, but it casts a very large shadow across the face of the watch which completely ruins its crisp look.
