What makes this such a great device is that laptops don't come with built in DVD or CD-ROMS anymore. But older CD-ROM programs and CD storage discs can still be used with most laptops. This unit puts everything you need right up front. No drivers needed to install either, just plug and play. If you wish to watch DVD movies, you'll have to download your favorite free app. Not a big deal since there are so many software options to choose from and many types of computers and operating systems out there. Plug and play right out of the box. You can't do any better than that! It's fast, it's quite and it does more than I hoped it would. And the price is more than reasonable. I highly recommend it.

The listing also confirms compatibility with macOS and Linux but I didn’t try it on those devices. I was not able to test out it speed when burning items to a disk but when transferring items from a disk or a SD card to my computer it worked well and didn't take long at all. Good drive, fast. The card reader & USB jacks are a nice touch although I hardly have use for them. The cord is a little short. It could be just 4" longer and it would be perfect. Update to original review after using 1 month: This optical drive disconnects by itself repeatedly. It's doing it with 2 different computers (Windows). Very annoying; I'll have to buy another brand. Update No. 2: Device stopped working altogether. This can't be normal.

This is a great addition to my lap top since it did not have a DVD/CD read/write. It works well and I have been able to store computer information and delete it from the hard drive to free up hard drive space.

After much fussing around and trying three different computers, it burned one disk and then refused to burn any others. Says that the disk can't be recognized, even though they are from the same pack Junk product. The manufacturer sent me one at their own cost and it works perfectly. Maybe the original one sat in an Amazon warehouse too long or was mis-handled? Been happening a lot lately. I would recommend this burner based on this replacement.

The installation was simple plug and play on my windows 11 machine. The product feels robust but must be handled carefully. Will update again after 3 months.

rien à dire, peu utilisé mais tout ce à quoi il est prévu fonctionne. Comme beaucoup, je trouve le câble usb trop court. Le porte carte sd fourni a du mal à s'insérer dans la fente, j'ai dû utiliser un autre porte carte. La prise en charge w11 s'est faite sans intervention. Sinon la conception de ce lecteur me parait robuste, et il fonctionne parfaitement. Je recommande.
