Relatively speaking, compared to fine bread crumbs Panko crumbs are large. Their size is what provides the light, crunchy crust you can never achieve with the fine bread crumbs. You should give whatever you are cooking a light dusting of flour, then a quick dip into a beaten egg bath, followed by a roll in the Panko. Directions are on the package

I would say that they are in between large and fine. Just right for coating pork escalopes - very crispy! Much better than ordinary breadcrumbs.
