I have previously use external hard drives for backup. Warning, never leave a backup drive attached to your computer or network. If you get a virus, it will find the drive and wipe out your backup as well. It happened to a friend of mine. So I get out the external hard drive and run my backup program (Images for Windows) periodically. I have two and alternate, in case I back up an infected computer. But eventually, I filled both of them. I was looking for an inexpensive replacement. I found these. Similar price to an external hard drive, but smaller and faster. Doesn't even need its own power. Perfect for backing up my whole computer, applications, household documents, small business documents and photos. I'm very pleased. Probably more reliable and less fragile, too.

Works fine, great drive. But! Yes there is a 'but'. Its definitely intended for USB 3.2 speeds. It also works with the included adapter for USB 2.x, but for anywhere close to USB 3.2 'speeds' you need actual USB 3.2. At USB 2.x it works with the included adapter and its slower of course but unless its something really big its not that bad at 2.X use. I use it for both 3.2. and 2.X systems for transferring work files until we swap over to all new systems and overall it works fine. Mine is the PD1000 model @ 2GB. I like the case and style and size, its very durable. The case is all aluminum, the included cable and adapter and the drive quality and workmanship is excellent. I'll probably be purchasing a few more for use at home too.

The external 2TB has worked great and reaches advertised speed for a fairly decent duration via a white label PCI-Ex USB3.2b 2x2 card, using it to scrub uhd footage, very satisfied Highly recommend it, all of TeamGroup's memory devices have been an excellent experience for me thus far. ☆knocks on wood☆

Great drive until a recent Windows update bricked the device. Buyer beware, this uses a Phison E16 NVME controller which if you have an AMD CPU like me, might cause the drive to become inoperable if you're over 50% capacity and attempt to write a 50GB file to the drive. It's been 2 months and there hasn't been any solution found. Also I will add, if you attempt to write a 50GB file under these conditions, the drive becomes dangerously hot, like scald your hand if you touch it hot, and that's the plastic enclosure on the outside. I can only imagine the actual internal temperature and the damage that's being done.

A couple of warnings: The SSD failed on me after a year. Replaced under their excellent warranty. 2nd unit failed after a week. I had noticed that it gets quit hot when transferring large amounts of data to the drive (e.g. installing AAA games). I suspect (though don't know) that this may be related to the driver's failure. Lastly check your system to make sure it supports gen 2x2. Not all USB4 ports do.

I'm using this solid build quality device with great storage capacity to backup a large amount of my Steam Library to be moved between various functional devices. It is very portable and works really well. No noticeable heat problem and seems to dissipate heat well passively. Speeds are blazing and it was a great pickup for me!

Solid SSD for storing those bigger files like videos, movies and wedding photos. I found the transfer speeds to be blazing fast, even when using a 2017 Macbook with a USB-C connector. Solid build and sexy casing, it definitely looks better than most drives out there but my favorite feature is the loop that makes more tactical when you are on-the-go. You can use this with PS4, PS5, Xbox One and all the modern Computer operating systems (all the way back to 2014) with no problem. Buy it and store what matters. But note: It is always good practice to not ONLY rely on an external hard drive, as they can fail at any time. Best scenario is use this drive, but pay and backup extra special things on the cloud.
