Good solid feel when you step on them, nice finish good buy.

I like my new steps! PROS: * Putting these steps together was easy and I did it by myself (60 years old, female). The instructions were straight forward with only pictures. * The screw holes all lined up perfectly. * The steps are sturdy and do not wobble or shake at all. * This looks and feels like a good piece of furniture at a fraction of the price of others this style. * I like climbing into my raised bed. * I would recommend these steps. CONS: * The manufactured scratches on the steps that are made so the wood looks natural, have the opposite effect. It doesn't bother me enough to remove a star. SUGGESTIONS * Follow the instructions carefully. * Use the enclosed wood glue liberally on All dowels and wipe away any excess with a damp paper towel. Where possible, I put the glue in the hole before the dowel. * Look at the "toggle screws" and understand how they work. The arrow goes up and it should easily turn only 1/4 of a rotation. Do not force it. The reviews that commented that these broke easily, lead me to believe that they definitely did something wrong. For reference, I was not familiar with these and this was the first time I've used them. * Insert all screws in each section together then and tighten. This is my honest, unsolicited opinion. If anything changes, I will update this review.

I was very pleasantly surprised. Although a lot of assembly is required, the finished product is solidly built, sturdy, and attractive. The finish is beautiful. The instructions were easy to follow, all the parts were there, and it went together without any problems. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble. I don't think I would describe the color as cherry, but more as maple, as that is what my bedroom set is and the step stool is almost a perfect match. It looks the way it looks in the online pictures, more honey than red, so I'm very happy about that. I would definitely recommend it!

Love my princess stool! Looks beautiful on side of my bed, no longer have to get a running start like like I'm jumping hurdles to get in the bed. Very well made. Good height, slightly too tall as I don't need the top step. Wish the drawer was a little bigger. Definitely read all instructions first, then start putting it together.

Very high quality for a self-assemble piece, so absolutely five stars there. Assembly was also easy and fun - they even include glue for the wood dowel holes and an extra wood panel just in case. The hidden drawer in the top step is very useful for reading glasses, earphones, chapstick, whatever little items you keep handy at bedside. Love that. But for me, as it turns out - my bed isn't quite high enough to make these proportions useful. It's almost as if I need just the first step and the second gets in the way. It would be great if Powell offered perhaps different sizes so buyers could purchase the most ergonomically-correct choice. The only other suggestion I'd make is that this is a high-gloss stain, which is beautiful but you may need to add non-skid treads for safety.

So far I am not impressed. I am sending back for a new kit. Some assembly required is an understatement. It’s not that simple. They cams strip easily as they are cheap aluminum so you need to be sure the pins are lined up perfectly- all of them before turning the cams or they will strip then you need to be sure the pins are just the right height so as to make sure the boards are tight but not too tight or the cams will strip. Get it? All this adjusting means stripped cams. You can’t keep turning the driver in the cam without stripping it because it is cheap and soft. And then there is the problem with the instructions. In that they are only pictures. For the most part that’s okay except when I got to the part for the dowel for the drawer. What? First, does that dowel go to the back or the front? It’s not clear. Try the back. Oh no. The drawer doesn’t fit that way. Doesn’t go all the way back. I thought maybe it was a stop somehow so the drawer didn’t go too far back. Now that means more unscrewing cams. More stripping. Turn top around so dowel goes in front. Okay. Let’s try this. Legs going numb, back throbbing. Can’t really see back there too well, but still trying. So, maybe the dowel is a stop so the drawer doesn’t fall out the front. So how do you put it in? If you put it in (glued) before the drawer is in then you can’t get the drawer in. But once the drawer is in, you really can’t get the dowel in, especially with glue on it. And you need to drive it into the tight hole. Not possible with the drawer in the way. Really this was a frustrating experience. Way beyond what I was expecting.

Like the colour of wood, easy to assemble. Not only a very good foot stool to get up to the higher places But also a very nice furniture piece.

A crucial part was missing. The finish leaves much to be desired. But it will get the job done of assisting me to get into bed. The person I dealt with in customer service made it easy on me and and alleviated my worries, as well as handling the problem swiftly and efficiently. I had the replacement the very next day. Bought for my mom. She loves that it's lightweight and easy to move around her room.
