Among The Braves is an alarming account of how Hong Kong’s democracy was crushed by authoritarians who undid the rule of law, replaced by a national security regime.The authors chose a writing structure that enlivens this story, focusing on the personal experiences of four individuals.I was just finishing this book as Xi Jinping met with CEOs of Apple, Boeing, Nike, and Tesla. All smiles. While defenders of Hong Kong democracy languish, uncharged, in Chinese prisons. A frightening example of how easily business interests out weigh fundamental principles of freedom and human rights.

Amazing recap of the crazy year that was in HK. Sadly there is no happy ending in this book. Thank you for being there.

what I like most are the appropriate distance and well-organized story telling. it's going to be another strong weapon for Chinese democracy movements. The book accelerates CCP's fall by half a year.

I've read over 10 books on the history of Hong Kong and the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong, and this was one of my favorites. The authors are very good at making you connect and care about the 4 brave Hong Kongers who fought for the freedom of Hong Kong. I came away from the book seeing how the pro-democracy movements changed over time from being centrally led to being leaderless movements.

I learned so much from the authors after reading this book! I highly recommend it!!

Whether you’ve never been to Hong Kong or know it like the back of your hand, or even a student a contemporary history, this is a great book for you. It’s suspenseful enough to keep you turning the page and before you know it, you’ve reached the heartbreaking epilogue. Definitely recommend
