Crystal clear
It might be made of plastic but the Robert’s quality shows through.Nice and simple with just three wave bands that are accessed by the direct buttons under the display one on./off/.volume dial and a tuning dial each on either side of a crystal clear lcd digital display. The sound belies its diminutive size with a full rich tone thats clear enough for half deaf me to hear easily. For the price this radio can’t be beaten and it makes an ideal emergency radio for those preparing fi or all eventualities.

Nice little radio!
Nice little radio! Works on 4 AA penlight batteries. Sounds the way you might expect from a radio this size - not quite full bodied - but with some bass nonetheless! Ideal for taking with you on a travel. The tuning button is a little sensitive, needs some precision tuning. Three bands: FM, AM and LW.

Looks OK but not a very good radio
We bought it because it came in a colour we liked. Found that the controls of the frequency are very sensitive and it is rather difficult to set up and keep on station. Also I use it in the bathroom always on the battery power and it says not to use DAB for this use. I wish I had known.

simple, effective and cheap.
great little radio. comes with batteries and does exactly what it should and no more. perfect and looks good too! i especially like how the display shows you the strength of the signal for the frequency you are dialled into.

Looks good but disappointing
Great looking little radio bought for kitchen when on offer. Unfortunately I had to return as the FM function kept cutting out every 10 seconds very frustrating. DisappointedNever had problem with Robert’s products previously. Shame

The last of its kind, but good and good value
This is now the only LW radio you can buy new in the UK. For some of us living in areas of marginal reception (I'm 40 miles from London but for FM (mostly), DAB and mobile phones it's a not-spot) this is a great little radio. We have internet radios too but when you're on the move in the house, steam radio works so much better. R4 LW is due to be switched off mid-2025 but hopefully it will get a reprieve, but even then this will continue to serve in those places in the house where FM does work.I know it's a trope that old people have the radio on all the time - well, we do, and are likely to want to do so for at least the next 20 years so thanks Roberts, I haven't always been a fan but this is great.

Can be a little awkward, bad VFM
Good points:Very clear sound, speaker seems to be good quality.Bad Points:The tuning knob is hyper sensitive, you have to be very precise to get the frequency you needWhen powered by USB rather than battery, you get interference from the USB cable connection, even when using a shielded USB cable. No USB supplied, so supplying a shielded, quality USB cable would help.Overall: This is a very basic radio with a couple of inherent faults but good clear sound. Purchased for £30, I wouldn't value this above £20. A shame that I only bought this because of the name and it seems the name inflates the price.

Good But Not Perfect
I bought this for my mum who lives and a very rural location and has had a few power cuts over the past few months. The reception is very good and sounds absolutely fine for a small radio. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that is a bit fiddly to get the station tunes in and you can go past the required station when you think you have reached it. I's say it's reasonable value and well built but tuning could be a bit easier. Especially for my 76 year old mother.
