Transition of the US Army to the 20th Century
I good short book concentrating on uniforms of the period, but covering the transition of the 19th century US Army to the early 20th century. Other things covered were weapons and key leaders. I feel short books like this should be about $7 and not $10, but maybe I’m more 20th century than 21st.

Not great, even for Osprey
Sorry I got this one. I was really looking for information and pictures of U.S. Army uniforms at the turn of the century, specifically the Spanish-American War and Philippine Insurrection, so I got this one. I am fully aware of the shortcomings of Osprey books (too short, not researched enough, etc.), but I have found them - usually - to be a great supplement resource, especially on obscure time periods. This one is bad though. The bulk of the narrative is literally just an army regulation book put into essay format. Very unreadable. The plates aren't really that great either. It's only real redeeming quality is that it does have some good pictures I hadn't seen before. If you're looking for info on the SPAM war or the Philippine Insurrection the Osprey book on the SPAM war and Philippine Insurrection is pretty good. Do not get this one.

For the history buff, this was the toughest period ...
For the history buff, this was the toughest period to figure out; what the United States armed forces was wearing in both equipment and arms.

Buen titulo.
