Five Brothers by Penelope Douglas
My copy of Five Brothers arrived in perfect condition and exactly as expected. The story has Penelope Douglas’s signature tension, complicated relationships, and emotionally charged moments. It’s bold, dramatic, and keeps you turning the pages because you constantly want to know what the characters will do next. If you enjoy dark, twisty romances with strong character dynamics and a story that pushes boundaries while keeping you hooked, this is a great read to pick up.

Loved this!
When Liv’s brothers were introduced in Six Tryst Venom, I was so hoping we’d be getting more books. I wasn’t expecting them all to feature in one, but I was here for it! This one started with a bang, and there was not a dull moment from then on! One of my most anticipated reads, I’d heard it gave Credence vibes, which it kinda did 🤭, but what I loved most was this family. The band-of-brothers, found-family, small-town community protector vibes were so good. I was so invested in this story, these relationships and this town. You don’t have to read Tryst Six Venom, but I really think reading that elevated my experience with Five Brothers. Each brother has a clear identity, and they’re all tortured and so, so hot 🔥 They were so loyal to each other, and when they found a kindred spirit in Krisjen, they took her under their wing. There was tension, there was spice, there was chemistry and I feel like there could have been a few end-game scenarios. It wasn’t hugely plot driven but there was underlying rivalry and criminality and I just loved learning what each brother did to survive their pasts. Krisjen was an old soul, and she became the glue that held the Jaegar family together. She just wanted a simple life, and she had compassion and a strong moral compass, which made her instantly likeable. The only reason this is not a five star for me is because I felt things were left unresolved with one (my favourite) brother (if this gets addressed in another book I’ll be a happy girl 😬) and I wished Krisjen was just a bit older. I am really, really hoping for some more books in the series! I loved this book, and this family, and it was an amazing reminder of why Penelope was my most-read author last year. I love her writing and I can’t wait for more. Fall Away series next, I think.
