Q: Smallest internal size it can measure? Thanks :)

Mine have a measuring range of up to 6 inches, not 4 as advertised, and the narrowest opening you can get the internal measuring calipers into is about 7.5 millimeters (then re-zero)

Q: is this accurate to within 0.5mm

There is no simple answer to this. The reading is to two decimal places in mm so you might imagine that it would read to 0.01 mm. But there is a potential error in the mechanism that gauges the movement of the arm to create the readout. You would need different standard blocks to measure against. Using my old feeler gauges, the 25 thou size which in mm is 0.635 mm my Vernier gauge reads between 0.62 and 0.65 which varies as I put pressure on. So at this dimension the vernier accuracy is certainly at least ten times better than 0.5 mm - somewhere around +/-0.015 mm. My micrometer tells me that the feeler gauge is correct.

When you turn on make sure that the measurement part is closed and press the button to zero. This makes the measurement go from zero and as it opens to measure something the reading should then be more accurate.

Interesting. I hadn't noticed this before. There is no mention of the slot's purpose in the handbook. I can only think that the access to the circuitry (via the pins) is to set the vernier gauge up, probably calibrating it prior to shipment.
