Vater Drum and Percussion Brushes (VWTW)

I'm gonna be using these to play a little washboard percussion and occasionally a cajón. It was between these and retractable ones; I decided to go with these because of the wooden handles. They look well made and do the job. I can't vouch for durability yet because I just received them, but they look like they will last.

They are not retractable but you can keep the brush part in a stick sleeve so they dont get all bent up in your bag. I like the wood handles because you can flip them when doing samba or any patterns in a song for rim clicks. Good tool for the toolbox

I am an old fart drummer .. and have pretty much given up on my sticks and my kits and now play at acoustic levels with several bands with a stand up set (kick drum and snare and one small 8" splash) and am having more fun than ever! So I have been using these Vater brushes for many years now and I love em... However ... I have learned over the years that to make them last a bit longer and keep their flare, I have to treat them with Super Glue (liquid) before I play them... so i stand them brush up and soak the clamp/base with the glue and maybe about 1/2 inch up the brushes, and treat them several times and let dry before I play... Makes a huge difference!

These brushes are fantastic - a huge improvement from the rubber sheath-style I was using before. Great to flip to get the wood sound and the metal tip is near for tight cymbal hits. storage is tricky as I am predicting that the nice fanning won't be preserved in my stick bag.... maybe I'll need some sort of special cover for them.
