These are a simple and inexpensive maintenance item for KitchenAid stand mixers. The original brushes that come with the mixer, may over time become burned, or damaged, causing the mixer to have erratic performance. The item came with no installation instructions but it is very easy. Remove the big screw cap on the side of the mixer and slowly pull out the spring assembly (brush). Make sure to note the orientation of angle cut on the brush. Then just place the new brush in the same orientation, put the original tube piece and cap in place and push in and screw in place. Then repeat on the other side (each mixer has two brushes - one on each side). Since this kit comes with 4 brushes, there are enough for two mixers. The brushes seem to be of good quality and are easy to install, there are no negatives. KitchenAid stand mixers are durable machines and these simple brushes help to keep the machine running properly while extending the longevity. If your mixer is running erratically, then these may fix the problem.
