Is the lid soft aswell?

Yes, Claire - the lid has a thin plastic oval disc to give it rigidity, but this is covered by a soft padded material covered by a thin flexible sheet plastic. It is the same off white colour as the seat, but when it is down, it is smaller than the seat by about three quarters of an inch all round. It looks quite nice but is not quite the same as a normal seat. Hope this helps! Roger B

What are the dimensions of the pins/screws that hold it in place please?

Sorry Aaron, but we changed the seat some time ago so we no longer have it. But it came with its own pins and it fitted the standard holes in a UK toilet and we had no problems fitting it.
