The cards easily insert into the unit and the unit says the word and, in some cases, plays an associated sound. For younger children, it will help them learn the words, and with older children it will help with reading.My main fear in ordering this was that the sound would be tinny, and that the speech would be heavily accented, or worse still electronically generated. However, I am glad to say that fear was misplaced. The voice is that of an English female with no noticeable accent. (See and hear the video).It is a very slight criticism that this product was obviously aimed at an American market originally, and while the voice is clearly English, a few of the words are American (eg ‘candy’ not ‘sweets, ‘truck’ not ‘lorry’ and ‘airplane’ not ‘aeroplane’).I am very happy to award this five stars.
