Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition - PlayStation 4

I hadn't played a Final Fantasy game in a very long time--I frankly burned out on the series a long time ago. When I saw that FFXV was something different, I was intrigued, but skeptical. Eventually, I got bored and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. This is basically a game about four friends on a road trip. Sure, there's a lot of bad stuff going down, and you know you're going to be the one to have to fix it, but the road-trip vibe is what sucks you in and keeps you there. The fighting mechanics aren't flawless, but they can be a lot of fun. The story is decent, but getting attached to the characters makes it a thousand times better. (Also worse, because getting attached to characters can seriously bite you on the you-know-what.) The key here is to take your time and thoroughly explore before moving on, because the game goes from a mostly-open world to a linear progression in the end game, and I longed for those earlier bits once I'd moved on. My first play-through took just over 70 hours, and afterward, I felt like I'd rushed it. Riding chocobos is ridiculously fun. I even enjoyed the fishing, and I rarely enjoy fishing in video games. I loved that the game takes pics for you, because I often forget, and what's a road trip without lots of pics? Ultimately, the game has its flaws, but I'm giving it five stars for the experience. This game utterly consumed my vacation week, it left a lasting impression (oh, the feels), and when I was finished, I wanted more. It's one of the few games that I've played through from beginning to end without taking a break to do something else in years--I just couldn't stop until I saw how it all turned out. This is the kind of game that turned me into a gamer in the first place.

I've been an avid player of the final fantasy series since the original Final Fantasy in NES. I've played every major release. Final Fantasy XV was a real departure from other games in the franchise. The game went in a different direction and it was, in my opinion, the most impactful game in the series since VI. XV takes a much darker and more mature tone than most of it's precursors. It has deep political overtones similar to those in Final Fantasy 12. Something I like about this game is that it is never condescending of it's players. It doesn't treat you like a child. There is no blood or sex, but the plot is deep, complex, and intertwined. It's not extremely hard to follow, but if you pay attention and ask questions the game will reward you with more three dimensional characters and better motivated villains than you may have expected in the past. Royal Edition includes a bunch of additional content on top of the original game. These packages do a lot to help flesh out the main characters and add some depth to the world. This is addition to the series is a love note to players who have been around a little longer. A kind of thanks for helping take the franchise from obscurity to the defining title of it's genre. I recommend it without reservation for anyone who wants more depth to a game than "smack down the bad guy".

It’s a great game if you love final fantasy, but wanted to try an installment with the new combat system. However, there is a bit of a learning curve and once you start to learn you want to keep advancing through the story. My only small gripe is that sometimes you want to do more quests and deviate from the main story and grind a little, but that’s not always possible as there are plot points you have to meet. It’s open world-ish. Fair warning, I have teared and cried a little. But this game has been out for a while and if you are a FF fan then you know there’s gonna be tears jerkers somewhere in the game. Overall, I’m having a great time.

Came New and Sealed, in in perfect condition, but it was the ESRB version

My original FFXV disc was used, and stopped working properly. Since I invested so much already into playing this game multiple times, getting the Royal Edition was only the correct thing to do. It does not disappoint. Oh getting the novelization of Final fantasy XV Dawn of the Future is worth it as well.

Final Fantasy XV is a fun game, I love the main cast of guys and this version includes everything except for Episode Ardyn. I found the DLC included in this package far more interesting and unique than the main experience. Though- once I received the game, I had to download around 75GB of data since only 25GB or so is on the disc! Oof. Still would recommend as this is the most complete disc version of Final Fantasy XV. (Also, make sure the ratings logo is based on your country or you might have to make a different region account to register your download codes! Mine was thankfully from the US but I bought it a while ago.)

i won the game 2025 so if you can finish the game then game is worth it... **note unlike the ps3 version or earlier version after you play the game a long time and head into the main quest line you will get to the train station in ps3 days you could have run back along the train tracks and see the giant goddess ..good days but now in 2025 royal edition they removed that wonderful feature. boo! sad! oh by the way after you win the game click on the gold letters in the menu to start a new game all your guys ..levels and gear from the end game are there when you start a new game..while its true your over powered for a number of the quests the new point here is that at some point you will have god fights so have fun -owens ..needs a ps5 remake and maby add new fights

Played the base FFXV about a year after release and didn't think much about it again until recently, so decided to pick up Royal Edition. It's a shame that the new additions weren't included in the original version, but with most of the DLC and a lot of extra small details, I recommend this version both to people who didn't enjoy the original game so much and people who have never played XV.

I'm aware you can play this game on any console, however I was not aware the DLC had to be downloaded separately and is only possible to download if you have a US or Canadian account. Big disappointment. You could make it more clear or just not sell this product to the UK, bit pointless really.
