Excellent atmospheric prog, band is greatly overlooked...bizarre cover doesn't help.
More of what Pallas do best, blazing atmospheric prog (if you've never hear of them before, imagine Pendragon having a sound-off with Marillion). Some reviewers have mentioned the bass is a little light -- well just turn up the EQ, for pity's sake! it's all here in the final mixdown for your home equipment to pull it out. Personally I have my EQ settings with bass turned down as i find modern music has too much "boom-thuck-boom-thuck" in it. So this is perfect for me, as are all their albums. Now and then Pallas have drifted away from perfection and put out a lame few tracks, but first few listens through suggest all here is up to their best, and considering their best dates right back to 1982..."The Sentinel"...that's praise where it's due. Of course opinions may vary and other prog acts are available. Only concern is the weird cover image, looks like a reject from the Vision On gallery (Emma, age 6), but seeing it close up in real life adds a lot, and the album cover I received was the special book-bound edition, which gives the odd image a bit of substance. Shame they can't afford another Patrick Woodroffe cover...ah well.

Fantastic modern prog
Great album. Modern sounding Neo-prog in the vein of recent Marillion and IQ i.e. quite dark and even heavy sounding. It's up there with Marillion's FEAR and IQ's Road Of Bones. Great stuff! I don't get the "lack of bass" comments at all. Sounds fine to me.

Very good album There are some good songs on this. Have to agree with other reviewer about the lack of bass. I would liked to have heard more guitar solos but otherwise a very good album which their fans will flock to buy. This is the first album I have bought of Pallas since "The cross and the crucible" which had very disappointing vocals which I thought detracted from the overall music itself. However a change of vocalist and what an improvement. If you like Pendragon or IQ you will probably like this as it sits somewhere in between.
