Sibel's New Belter..
I was exceedingly lucky to have been sent an advanced review copy of Beneath the Surface by Sibel...and boy did I lap it up.I love Sibel's books. I adore her Amber and Brad ( psst, did you know Sib has a Brad of her very own). In My Perfect Wedding the Turkish Cypriot father in law had me almost peeing my pants. So apart from her other genres and her Cookbook of course. Her thrillers are utterly fantasticI love the twists and turns and circles, just when you think you've nailed the big mean baddie she takes you off on another twist. I love her slow build up to the 'main event' and then lets you have it with all guns blazing. I won't give any spoilers as some people haven't quite finished yet and others have given a general plot outline. But i'm glad she gave Barbara her moment .Thankyou Sibel hope we don't have to wait too long for your next one..

A Book of Passion
Not passion in the romantic sense but passion for a cause. The author feels deeply about the failings of the drugs industry and the harm done by the side effects of popular prescription medicines. She is determined, like her lead character Holly, to do something to raise awareness. She succeeds but at the price of a rather gruelling read. But one that everyone should undertake. As always with this author there is pace, engagement and very little padding.Perhaps a little more could have been said about the benefits of modern drugs and the lives they actually save, but I expect that doing so would have blunted the message. That is unambiguous and a challenge for us all.

Beneath the Surface-by Sibel Hodge.
Well Sibel has done it again with a an all right winner-exposing the drug industry. A racy thriller which I loved. What I love about Sibel Hodge's books as each one is different-no same detective-same type of story. Each one is different and a real pager turner, it can be an all night read as you cannot put it down.I cannot speak to highly about Sibel's books as she has the magic gift and all I can say to would be readers -pick the thriller type novel that she has written and I dare you not to be more than satisfied about the book.A great writer in every way.Thank you Sibel.

Good - but a bit too longwinded in places
I enjoyed this book and would have given it 5 stars, except I found there was just too much detail in places. A good example is the chapter where Holly meets with the whistleblower; I found myself skimming over a lot of the detail because there seemed to be page after page of detail regarding drug trials etc - and mist of it went over my head. A little less detail would have been better in my opinion. The book was full of suspense; who could Holly trust? Will, the policeman ........ maybe? Andrew, the stranger who accidentally(?) scratches her car ...... possibly. In most of this author’s books there is a little extra twist after you think everything is done and dusted, and this book was no exception; I thought it was a very suitable finishing touch!

Very scary, but true
I always enjoy your books immensely - but this one in particular is very frightening, in that I know this type of thing happens and we all believe we will get better when we are prescribed meds. It seems not, which is the scary part. Written so well, it really grabs you - I couldn't put it down. Thank you and please keep them coming.

Fast paced exciting thriller
Very well put together, and researched. The author really knew the detail, made it seem very real. In fact I'm sure this kind of issue is happening right now in all corners of the world! On a different level, an exciting and fast paced thriller, full of twists and turns.

Fascinating book
Wow what a fascinating book. It really made me think deeply about how we put all of our faith into the drugs we are prescribed. We generally don't question our Doctors and rightly so but this book certainly shined a light on the possible unethical practices pharmaceutical companies may indulge in to increase profits.....

Disappointing read
Started off OK but then became very easy to work out the plot/ending. Also became boring overloaded with detail of corrupt pharmaceutical companies etc.

I am never disappointed with Sibel’s books. This was well written, so much so that I could sense and feel the emotion of the main character the whole way through.
