Excellent quality the best
I had researched mudguard in people's review and blog extensively. Then, I decided to purchase SKS with 53mm width for 700CC x 40mm tyre. The size is perfect (not too wide and not to narrow) and black matt colour is fantastic. SKS is simple but comes with quality. As for the installation, yes, it is not easy but was not so complicated.First, you need figure out where to fix with frame and front fork. Then, once you fix mudguard temporary, you add stay and connect to mudguard without using black stay end cover. By doing so, you can adjust gap between tyre and mudguard. Please note that do not make too tight for the gap. But make sure, gap is even around tyre.Once you figure out better position. Then, mark excess stay with pen and de-assemble stay. Then cut them excess part. Again, please note that do not cut too short (just in case, you may have to adjust later). I would recommend leave 2cm from bracket to the end. If stay is too long, you can cut them later too.I also purchased SKS Front mudguard fitting kit on Amazon for Sun tour forks because my bike has backward mudguard point and that makes different distance than original front stay.Trick is your need to be creative to install this mudguard. I used a small spacer to adjust gap between mudguard and tyre for back.Anyway, you will not regret to buy this SKS if you have 700cc x 40mm tyre.Fantastic quality and looks so great

Perfect for my gravel bike
Make no mistake these mudguards take some time to fit and for someone that's not very handy they will struggle.Take your time and it will pay off, they work so well deep puddle no problem and the bike stays clean and so do you. I'm using them on 48mm tyres close on tolerance but it means a tight fit so minimises drag and water spray.Pros:Look niceFit wellStainless steel staysAnti vibration stay endsKeeps you dry and cleanCons:Difficult to fit cutting stainless staysMild steel hardware supplied not ideal on an alloy frame

Good mudguard, bad instruction
I bought this mudguard for my Carrera Crossfire Bike.# AppearanceIt has a simple modern and slim appearance. I like the matt surface of the mudguard, which gives it a premium look.# AssemblyThe assembly is as always with such SKS mudguards rather something for tinkerer. For those of you who are doing this for the first time, the tutorial is simply a dreadful one. The parts you need are not numbered, so you have to guess the right part. The stainless steel braces can be shortened with a Dremel or a hacksaw. As my bicycle does not have a mudguard mounting bracket at the front fork, I had to use a 32mm P-Clip to mount the front mudguard. If your fingers are not all thumbs you should be able to mount these bad-boys though.# QualityThe material quality is very good as usual with SKS products. The stainless steel braces are hardened and very strong. Also the mudguard is made from quality stiff plastic.

Takes 5 hours to fit
Never managed to fit it what a polava. Also didn't fit my 700cc wheels because there is not enough clearance. The gigantic box it came in meant I couldn't send it back straight away. Will have to suck it up now I guess

took a good part of the afternoon - one of those jobs ...
I bought these to replace the old mudguards on my Giant Roam. I chose them because of the integrated mud-flaps. Fitting, as expected, took a good part of the afternoon - one of those jobs which sounds easy but is fraught with issues. The first problem had nothing to do with the mudguards - the bolt securing my old mudguards to the rear bottom bracket would not come out - the threaded socket it screwed into on the bike frame was turning freely but needed to be separated from the bolt. In the end I used a junior hacksaw to saw it off. Fortunately there was enough of a gap to do this. All the time I was thinking 'I don't need this', lol.The rest of the job was easier, the front stays fitted without shortening, but the rear stays were too long. If you've ever had to saw through these things you'll know it's a right pain and I had to do it four times. I didn't have anything which could have snipped them to length and wasn't prepared to spend money buying heavy duty cutters.Eventually got them fitted and was pleased with how they look and the job I'd done. I like that they're matt rather than shiny, and most of the time they don't rattle. Only the front stays make a noise where they touch the tyre on really bumpy surfaces. Not sure anything could be done about that. All in all good mudguards at an excellent price.

Not straightforward to fit to my bike
My bike has suspension forks and consequently the front stays are completely the wrong angle and I had to bend them considerably to get them to fit. Overall it took a long time to fit them and I hope they work because having shortened the stays and bent the front ones I’m guessing I can’t return them. One or two questionable design details in particular getting the rod end protectors onto the stay rods where they pass over the mudguards themselves
