Avaya Telset 1140 TTY Standard Phone

Very easy to read and very nicely set up of the phone system.

I’m returning the one I just bought today because it does not work with our phone system. It requires a plain analog land line. I tried multiple times to do a relay call (HCO) and everything I sent was garbled. Thankfully the relay operator was able to figure out most of it, but that’s a credit to her, not the phone.A friend pointed out to me that iOS 10 and later iPhones have TTY functions built in (under accessibility options in general settings), so I tried that last night and it was just like doing a chat session with the relay operator. Sure, I’d rather use a keyboard on the TTY phone, but the keyboard doesn’t do any good if the message is garbled.Don’t get me wrong, the phone works. It’s easy to use and the display is quite readable. But the product information needs to state clearly that it only works on an analog land line. The fact the phone is incompatible with modern phone systems is a big blow against it. Update it for VoIP and Bluetooth headsets already.

if you need to use a TTY, I cannot recommend this phone too highly! I have had one for many years, and it's still working. I wanted an additional phone so I bought another one

I really expected it to work, But it didn't. When I call someone, it rings and rings, but no one picks up, though someone is there, When I answer on TTY, they hang up. Never know if anyone "gets it".
