Decent starter kit
This is a pretty decent starter kit for someone who needs some tools and first aid gear, but probably won't get much use out of them.First off, this kit is pretty comprehensive for it's price and size. But let's be realistic, this isn't the highest quality gear. The mini shovel is suprisingly sturdy and good to have if you need to dig out around your tires or cut a trench around your tent. But I personally don't see it holding up to long term daily abuse. But for certain situations it should work fine. The headlamp is cheesy and cheap feeling. It might work, but I use a slimmer style instead. The little hamer/axe is funtional, but small so you're not going to get a full swing. But I did manage to pound some tent stakes in with it. The spork works, but not very well if eating out of a pouch. You might want a longer handle. The knife is ok but needs to be sharpened. The pen works, trauma shears work, the ferro rod works but it's on the small side for me. The fishing tackle included is always good to have for emergencies. Most of the medical gear is ok. Lots of little things that add up to the 142pcs. Ice pack works, but after about 4 minutes it wasn't as cold as when started, and after about 10 minutes was useless. I guess that's satisfactory. Emergency blankets are good to have on hand, and the shiny side can be used as a deflector when making a fire to radiate the heat back towards you. The paracord included is a must have, and the bracelet made out of paracord can be unraveled if you need more.Overall, it's a pretty decent kit for $49.98 which is why I gave it 5 stars. If it cost more, probably 4 stars. But this really is a kit for someone who wants emergency gear in their car, but probably won't use it, or will use it once in awhile. Might want to add some extra medical supplies like an Israeli bandage, tourniquette and more bandages. The bag is sturdy enough, but not the most durable. So don't stuff it too full. This would be a good gift too in my opinion for a boy/girl scout or any young person interested in survival and enjoys the outdoors. It has enough stuff for them to test out, see what does and doesn't work, and build on it.

Quantity over quality
This survival first aid kit is packed and full of items that are helpful for first aid and emergency use. I found that there was so much stuff, if I didn't properly pack it back in, that it was difficult to close. Although it has tons of stuff, I found that this kit had more quantity rather than quality. First, I found the zippered molle bag all the items come in to be lacking in durability. It seems really thin, and the zippers feel like they could break easily. I especially found this when I was trying to stuff the items back in and close it.In terms of the items themselves, though they might help in an emergency, I don't know how long they would last in terms of durability. Items such as the flashlight, knife and headlamp seem to be made out of a cheaper plastic, though some items seem alright. But, this kit is so packed and full that it would be difficult to see how it would fit into a pack to carry around. I found the best option to be to take out some of the unnecessary and less durable items. By doing this, there is less of a chance of the zippers breaking. Personally for me, although it has tons of items, for the quality, I don't know if the value is there.
