Smeg always good kettles but bit noisy

Beautiful kettle, it’s my second one. The plug that comes out of the base was a two pin plug with round metal pin, so would not go in my socket!! Luckily I had my old base, so ended up using that.Be careful when you order this.

Have had mine for 7 years, but has been replaced twice already due to paint flaking. Past its warranty now and paint flakes. (Have to say the customer service from Smeg was good and they did replace without any issues...but it would have been better without the hassle to be honest).The water gauge is difficult to see (hidden by the handle that sits in front of it).For the money its nothing special - very poor value in my opinion.

It looks lovely but has real flaws. For a start the lid is often reluctant to pop up, and you often have to give it a little push. The water level indicator is under the handle where you can’t see it! And if you bend close to look at the level it is obscured by condensation. It is also a very heavy kettle, and this makes it very difficult to judge the water content by lifting it up. I’m going to give it away and get something useful rather than pretty.

The item came with a European plug on it and with no opportunity to register for a guarantee. All other countries and languages had a form to fill in.Fortunately, we had an adapter.A great looking kettle, but not very robust.
