Unable to install Ubunut Linux.
The laptop was a great price for the horsepower. However, I was unable to get Ubuntu 22.04 to boot up on the laptop. I run Ubuntu Linux on all my computers and rarely have an issue installing on a new computer. This laptop was the exception. I attempted to install Ubuntu 22.04. The installation went smoothly, but the system would not boot up. It kept saying it could not find the file-system. I then attempted to install 24.04. Again, the installation went smoothly, but the system would not boot up. I then attempted to install 20.04. The installation went smoothly and this time the system did boot up. However, when I performed the release upgrade to go from 20.04 to 22.04, the upgrade went smoothly but the system would no longer boot up. I must have tried some 20 installations attempting different BIOS and kernel configurations before finally giving up and returning the laptop. I ended up buying a different HP laptop from Sam's Club with which I had no problems at all installing and booting Ubuntu 22.04. If you are going to stick with the stock Microsoft Windows installation, then this laptop is probably a great buy for you. If you intend to install a Linux installation instead, then you should avoid this laptop.

slow and long battely life - good for the price when on sale
for this for hundred seventy five, and for that price its a good deal. the laptop is slow, its a celeron CPU on the low end, but has plenty of RAM and just sufficient SSD to run windows and some bare minimum. I got this for my mom who's over 75 and she loves the color so it looks good. and its faster than the old PC she had. Youtube, word - work fine. I don't expect anything else really to perform here, if you are in college or need this for work - don't get it. Battery life is huge but again, you can't do much here. It's like a better version of Chromebook :). picks ups wifi 5 and 6 readily, no problem there.

DO NOT BUY FROM PROTECH PC
Update: the computer is not fine. Wouldnt turn on, blue screen, wouldnt turn on. Theres a sticker on the package that says "call is first" ..tried that 100 times...nothing of course. Went through the hassle of installing 365 and docs and what not (even though was supposed to be included which was an extra 100 bucks) just for the conputer to stop turning on. Their solution...retur. it....with all my stuff on it? Oh then go into wondows and factory reset. IT DOESNT TURN ON!! like talking to a damn wall. Hardware issue, power source issue, customer service issue, PLEASE DONT BUY FROM THESE JOKERS The computer itself is fine. Arrived in good condition , but when you use the fact that a year of Microsoft 365 comes with it , and then say "Microsoft 365 is not transferable with used products" after I've received it and spent the time to update it , it very much seems like a bait and switch. YOU DO NOT GET 365 . THERE ARE BETTER DEALS OUT THERE

Updated Review
6/4/2024 Updating review from 1 star to 4 stars. So after trouble shooting, I had discovered that I had used an old HP laptop cord not the new one that came with this laptop. And laptop worked immediately after plugging in the correct cord so the issue was on my end. Reason for only giving 4 stars is because this computer is very slow and lags. I loved it when it worked, but it just died on me. I was hoping for at least a year, not 2 months and now it's past the return window. I only bought it as a backup, don't think I used it more than 10 times, guess I should have used it for those 10 days in a row so I could have returned it.

Great Laptop!!!! For the Price!
I have had this laptop for about 2 months and it has been great! This was a great replacement laptop for my old 2017 HP Flyer Red Laptop that was terribly slow running at 4GB of ram! I wanted another red laptop and this one was perfect!!! I got the 16GB of ram this time around and it's super fast and completes all my needs as a graduate student! I can run multiple task at the same time with no lagging or freezing. I didn't like the keyboard but no worries I found a keyboard skin off amazon and that took care of that issue for me.

Honestly wish I went a different route
TLDR: wish I went a different route, the money I saved isn’t worth what I’m losing Pros: Nice price point. I got it on sale and I got the smaller hard drive since I don’t mind using an external. Battery is decent. Cons: (maybe I’m picky, I don’t think so) Cannot use on my lap. If I do the touch pad buttons are pressed FROM THE BOTTOM. Gets crazy hot. Freezes all the time. I don’t even use it for anything crazy. I just wanted a computer that worked a bit faster for writing my book and using Obsidian. News flash, my Old iPad is faster. I DM for DND so 90% of what I use this for is that. I just have vaults for Obsidian on it and it struggles with that. The sound quality sucks. But I am always using headphones.
