Food Storage Container- 8 Cup-rect.

I wanted a container for foods like ground meat, casserol leftovers etc. & found that plastic doesn't keep such stuff cold enoughwhen the container has to be taken out of the fridge, then put back in (perhaps several times). I also wanted a really airtightcontainer so refrigerator storage wouldn't dry out the contents. I found Glasslock to be a great choice--it meets both my requirements, plus glass is easier to thoroughly clean & doesn't retain smells or stains. The glass walls are thick & the (plastic)top fits so snugly it is actually hard to snap on!

I've been using this almost daily for about a month now to take salad to work. This fits my needs sizewise and for going green. The seal is very good and a pretty color. A little heavy, but I knew that would be the case. Lid is plastic but that doesn't concern me. This fits perfectly into the bottom of my lunch bag leaving room on top for other items. I like it.

In my humble opinion, Glasslock by Snapware is simply the best glass storage option for my purposes. I removed all my BPA plastic storage pieces and replaced them with Glasslock. I did a lot of comparison research and went with Glasslock. The seal is rock solid. The glass is a little heavy, but I think it is minimal. I do not microwave in it with the lid on either, but I do wash the lids on the top rack of the dishwasher. I have a set of Glasslock and use this piece (8 cup) to store all the lids in. A lot of Glasslock pieces do not nestle for storage, and therefore, takes up more space, but again, I think these are all minimal compared to the health benefits.

I have owned a set of these for years. I love that I can store, microwave and serve all in the same container without the fear that plastic can lend. The snap lock systems seals so well, I twice dropped containers unfortunately breaking the glass but the lids remained sealed to the edge both times. These are the only containers I use now.

WARNING: This container holds 6.5 cups, not "8.0". When I contacted the seller about the issue, I received an email stating the the problem was mine, as I'd done the conversion from milliliters improperly. Which is odd, as milliliters had never entered into it: it's advertised as a 8-cup container. Period. So I called, thinking I could clear up the issue in realtime. Wrong! I got a barely-literate and quite obnoxious woman who insisted that milliliters somehow entered into it, and was impervious to all forms of logic. I hung up on her, called Amazon, and asked them to list this container accurately, which so far has not happened.The container itself is not bad, if you want a SIX AND A HALF CUP container, not an 8-cup. But after my experience, I would never deal with this seller again.

I love glasslock. Durable, nice looking, well made leak proof lids, oven safe, and worth every penny. I am collecting a whole set to replace any trace of plastic I have.

Although I like the container, the picture is misleading since it showed 2 glass containers but only sent one.

I've had the glasslock container for a year now. I first bought it because of the bpa scare but now I'm having another scare because of how these glasslocks are made. There is a green plastic or silicon lining all around the lid. Its presence helps keep the container air-tight. When I first bought this I thought that food might get stuck up there and it turned out that I was right. Now there is all sorts of food stuck up there and I think some black mold from having washed it! I just hope this stuff isn't getting into my food. Other than that it is a great container though it is on the heavy side.
