Exceptional Audio Quality for the Price (16/24 Bits)
The Moondrop May delivers outstanding audio performance, far surpassing my AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) in sound clarity and detail. To experience its full potential, I recommend using high-quality streaming platforms like Apple Music that support 16-bit or 24-bit audio. While the built-in DSP handles up to 24-bit audio flawlessly, I did notice occasional stuttering with 32-bit tracks. For those, an external DAC is advisable to ensure smooth playback and optimal performance. Since I don't use 32 Bits, its 5 Stars for me.

Sound is incredible, app is awful
I am a bit of a headphone nut and am getting into IEMs recently. I have HD800S and HD6XX headphones and still really enjoy these. They sound much better than the truthear hexas that I bought. I am generally listening to these with a regular analog cable, but the dsp cable sounds great. It’s just a shame that the app basically doesn’t work on iOS and has sketchy permissions for android. It seems to work ok ish with android but it really isn’t the best. I’m still giving these 5 stars as the sound quality for the price totally blows my mind. Regarding putting on the tips, if you fold the flange up and grip it like that, it makes it much easier to wiggle the tip on.

Decent on sale
Good sound but buzzing when no sound playing and dsp only through app Comfort is mid, the nozzles are too big Not sure about durability since the faceplates are glued on but I wouldn’t hedge my bets

Value for Money
Good sound and a built in mini DAC for connection to iPhones with USBC. It also comes with a decent case. I haven’t tried the app yet.

Excellent sound quality for the price
If you don't care about a wire hanging around this is the best IEM you can get for the price. Just throw away your expensive tws coz it outperforms flagship tws in sound quality which is excellent. Only con I can find is that it took me an hour to put the ear tips in and the forced curve on the DSP or wire to put it over the ear could have been avoided over all excellent quality. Highly Recommended it

Downloaded the app and it spoilt them
They were very good at first but downloaded the app and they sounded really bad good cable though the cable was worth buying them alone on sale

Amazon don't want to make this review public
So why only one star? Because it's faulty, to be precise - left side iem, you can hear the sound coming out, but it feels like on 5% volume out of 100%. Don't get this wrong, the right side of iem is working 100% and sound is loud and clear. I have other iem's like: Truthear Hexa, Truthear Crinacle Zero Blue original, Linsoul ZiiGaat Arete, Supermix 4, Simgot EW300, Simgot EM6L, Moondrop Chu 2 just two mention few of them. So I bought this Moondrop May iem's thru Amazon from SHENZHENAUDIO UK STORE, Condition: Used - Mint, price was - £44.19 and bought them on the 9th December 2025, wanted to try them out, but as writing this review you can see that this was not the best value for money and faulty product. Maybe I was just unlucky, but as you can see even Amazon itself shows that it's frequently returned item. I really liked how they sound (right side of iem at least), and would keep them for sure, but quality control needs to be more focused before leaving the production and quality control line. By the way, I've try to put my other iem to that left side and it worked fine, so problem is not the cable of Moondrop May, but a faulty left side iem itself. The fitment is really good, and is a lightweight for sure. But be very careful buying these. Usually I don't write reviews in amazon at all, but this time couldn't stop myself of doing it. Amazon, why you don't make my review public for everyone to see it?

Returned with issues
Really liked the design and build. We're really comfy to wear. Initially things were good. Sound wise they were a little harsh at the top end for my tastes, but did a pretty good job with a variety of music. App was definitely designed by someone who doesn't know about designing UI. Vaguely functional but not a great experience. After a week the issues started. At random music would cut out, worse on some occasions it wouldn't be silence it would be very loud noise that could only be stopped by pulling cable from phone. Hopefully only some occasional build issues, but have read about it happening elsewhere. If I liked the sound more I would have persevered with getting replacements, but have gone in another direction.

Good iem with pretty good sound. The app some times crashes, but when works it updates the presets.

I'm not usually someone who EQ's headphones - I like them to sound the way the designer tuned them. But with the moondrop app (have to download the APK for android on their site) the degree and precision of the EQ tuning is HUGE. And the side perk is they're a standard 2 pin 0.78mm design on the cable with a slight recess, so anything you want with a 2 pin design can just plug right in. The cable also actually plays nice with dolby atmos on my phone - a rarity. It sounds fun and lively, instead of weird and unnatural. The biggest boon to the cable that had me leery is that I'm super, SUPER sensitive to "amp click" and low level hiss. the quark DSP was unusable because of that. But I'm happy to report this cable is silent on both sides. No hiss, no click when you're not playing anything and scrolling through youtube. The IEM's work just fine with a regular 2 pin too. Sound is great. These really do sound like a solid $100-150 IEM. I definitely prefer the simgot EM6L to these, but these are a little smoother, trading a little detail and soundstage for cohesiveness. They're gorgeous looking too. And the semi-custom fit is just right for me with some shallower tips. They're a fun tuning at baseline, a little warm-neutral V shaped. The micro planar really is nice and textured - something I like when companies leave in. I think I like them a little more than the aria 2, but they're just a bit more grown up and the aria goes for pure fun. But I'm sure you could tune these to get there as well. It would have been nice if the cable came with a reverse type C to 3.5mm adapter but that's asking a lot, this thing already delivers a ton for the money. The only thing I think is a little odd is the diameter of the nozzle. It's REALLY wide. It's not a super deep/wide design like the truthear zero, which was like trying to fit a cannon down your ear canal (and thus was super uncomfortable for me) but since the tip does the fitting, it's comfortable. It just is WIDE, so fitting tips on it can be annoying. The stock tips were actually a real pain to fit on them. But they'll accept most tips - dunu SS, TRN T tips, coreir brass, everything normal fits, it's just a challenge to put them on for some. And I do wish it had the brass detachable nozzle and replaceable filters of the chu II and Aria II. That really is a superb design choice that the may lacks. Truthfully, there are no deal breakers here. The price they're asking would be almost fair for the cable alone - a really nice DSP and EQ tunable cable is impressive with no click or hiss. And then throw some $100-150 sounding IEM's in as well? Nobody tell moondrop, they forgot to put a 1 in front of their price.
