Excellent quality hose that does not leak air
We have purchased several pool hoses over the years, sometimes buying what companies referred to as their "premium" or "professional" hose. They all suffered from the same problem: the ends were not airtight. So you could not use them with a skimmer vacuum plate. Since the end of the pool hose was above the waterline, that tiny air leak would suck air and break the prime of the pump. This is the first hose we have owned where that was not a problem! After dealing with those horrible hoses, when the most recent one died on us, I spent a lot of time looking at reviews and this seemed to be the choice many felt was the best. It is certainly a higher quality than those other hoses and it does not leak on the ends at all. We can at last use the skimmer vacuum plate successfully and it is so much easier than having to empty the pump basket regularly, especially since we have one of those stupidly designed Hayward Super Pumps that inevitably leak around the gasket. Buy this hose, not the other "premium" hoses. You won't regret it.

Using your Haviland after market hose with a Haywood leaf canister or pool port.
I purchased this hose with the intention of using it with a haywood leaf canister & a pool set up to use a haywood hosed clearer. You more experienced pool owners probably know this & are having a good giggle but I learned not all systems use a standardized pool vacuum hose. Haywood uses 1.5" OD on the male end but most aftermarket hoses have a 1.625 (5/8") OD. Too large to fit into the haywood leaf canister or their poolside vacuum port. I really liked the hose, 5 yr warranty, smooth interior but thought I'd have to return it. I asked the community for advice and SS replied they had the same issue & was able to find an adopter at a pool supply store. With that info I headed to the local haywood pool store. There I found haywood part AXV093BP (search on amazon it won't let me leave the link) described as AQUADROID SKIMMER ADOPTER CONE. The small end will fit the 1.5" requirement. The large end is made with an inner adopter just a little small for the male end of the haviland hose. To overcome that I boiled a pan of water & placed the adopter in large size down. I let it get good & hot. I pulled it out wearing heavy gloves & quickly dried the inside cone & gave it a burst of spray silicone. I was able to get the male end started into the cone & with a flat blade screwdriver pull the cone over the male end. It slid in to the base easily & I let it cool. Once cool it is firmly in place & this hose can now be used to plug into haywood ports in the pool walls or leaf canisters. I had attempted to phone haviland in michican to find out what hose they made to fit haywood ports but found their customer service lacking. I tried two numbers I found using a search engine. Both were answered & were transferred to someone who could answer my questions. Both went to voicemail & neither call was returned. If I were in the pool business selling a good quality hose that didn't fit a good portion of the market I may sell or include an adopter free of charge. Anyway I hope this helps some others that will need to replace their haywood system vacuum hose & don't want to pay the high per section price.

Haviland does NOT make this product anymore BUYER BEWARE
Anyone buying this product now: Buyer Beware. It seems like a good product but does NOT hold up. My first one had a pin hole leak, Luckily at THAT TIME Haviland was the manufacturer and honored their warranty. On the second one the swivel end just broke off - EXACTLY like the customer below shows. I notieced there is no warratny info available. I called Haviland. They SOLD the business two years ago. You are buying something that is either end of life inventory or who knows what. The company they sold to HaviFlex does NOT sell thru Amazon. Amazon simply allows anyone to sell anything on their site with no customer protection these days.

4 Years Old and still looking new
The hose itself still looks brand new, of course its always stored inside a pool pump house, Bought this on March 26 2015 and todays date is APRIL 9 2019. THE WHITE END CUFF SPLIT, bought some gorilla tape , wrapped around it, holding up ok till l get a chance to replace the cuff, no Biggy since this part hooks into the pool intake so the suction actually holds it in place, again plan to replace the cuff in the future, not sure if its under warranty, [ hope the manufacture reads this review ], anyway l fill this usa made product is holding up well for its age , remember l store it so the elements don't effect it except freezing weather since the pump house is not heated . my only regret is that l wished l had ordered the 40 ft instead of the 30 ft

Substantially better than cheaper alternatives
This hose provides stronger suction and is much easier to pull around a pool than the cheap blue hoses. Unlike the cheap hoses, no leaks at the ends where the cuffs attach, smooth interior, the hose slides past itself easily because the exterior ridges are smaller which leads to minimal tangling.

Lasted less than 3 years and split
Went to use the hose this year and it had split. The less-expensive plastic hose it replaced lasted 17 years. This one, purchased in 2019, was far less durable.

Haviland Pool Vac Hose Defect
The hose is split - right out of the box! I requested a replacement, instead of a refund,Hoping that this is just a manufacturing fluke, since every other pool vac hose I've used latelyseems to be junk made in china. Haviland is supposed to be a made in the USA, so I expecta better product. I will update this review based on the condition of the replacement vac hose. UPDATE TO REVIEW: A replacement hose was sent to me free of charge, and it works well. No air/water/vacuum leaks - no air bubbles visable at the pump basket. The skimmer end of the hose is sealed, and the vacuum end swivels as it should. Creates a strong vacuum to remove even heavy debris from the deepest part of my pool. Highly recommend!!!!!!.UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS GLOWING REVIEW!!!!!! - The replacement that I received on June 11, 2017, and used no more the a half dozen times, is split. Warrenty is 30 days, so I am stuck with trying to repair this P.O.S, or trying to find a product that is NOT made in F*****G China!!!!

Expensive hose
I think this hose is premium and quite expensive. However I believe more expensive items will be durable and last a long time. I hope this is the case for this pool hose.
