NFL SUPER BOWL 52 CHAMPIONS - PHILADELPHIA BD

NFL Films has waited 52 years to do a Super Bowl film on the team in their own backyard, the Philadelphia Eagles. It is clear this was done with a lot of love for the team. While called Super Bowl LII, it should really be titled the Philadelphia Eagles 2017-18 Season. The main feature covers all the games of the season plus the playoffs. What I loved most was the heavy use of audio from Merrill Reese and Mike Quick's game calls from WIP-FM. This is something you cannot get on any other recording of the game. As someone who only watches games with the TV sound off and the radio on, this was fantastic.The game footage is beautiful in HD on the Blu-ray with great DTS sound enhanced by the classic NFL Films orchestral music. With the miked players and coaches you get a look back at the games with a new perspective. While I really enjoyed the main feature I was disappointed that the Super Bowl only makes up the last 15 minutes of the show. However, what they do show is prime, particularly the Philly Special play and the last few minutes of the game where the Pats tried to make a comeback. The show ends with the victory parade under the credits AND a great little bonus clip of Jason Kelce's speech (without profanity). The price is a little high for the casual fan but if you bleed green then you will want this for your collection.This is a disc that will be treasured by diehard Eagles fans who want a keepsake of a season that had nightmares but ended up a beautiful dream.

A great recap of a great season! For those of you looking for the whole game... this is not your DVD. This is a highlights reel of all the wins, losses, injuries, and everything in between along with Super Bowl highlights. For me, a transplanted Philadelphian living down in Maryland, the best part of this was getting to hear Merrill Reese doing the playcalling with very little of Chris Collinsworth's biased babble. (I swear after the Super Bowl was over and the Eagles had won, Chris was still figuring out how the Patriots could get back into the game and praising Tom Brady!) One highlight of this DVD is footage of Malcolm Jenkins slapping Tom Brady in the butt and taunting "C'mon, Tom!" after Brady failed to catch the pass on the Patriots' trick play attempt. The Philly Special play, fully miked, was also a highlight. There was also some nice footage of the Eagles parade down Broad Street. If you're an Eagles fan, and not looking for just a recording of the Super Bowl, you'll be really happy with this purchase. It is so great to relive the season from the perspective of knowing that we got the Lombardi in the end, especially because during the season most of us never expected the ending that we got!

After reading a few negative reviews about video quality, I was prepared to be disappointed. OMG! The Blu Ray transfer is absolutely gorgeous. According to my blu ray player, the source is 1080/60p - better than many blu ray movies! All of the season highlights are NFL Films quality - many in slow motion - absolutely spectacular! The run time of the feature is 76 minutes with 60 minutes of bonus features. The narration is also NFL Films style. The sound is exquisite - 5.1 DTS HD Master. It also comes with the DVD version which has fewer bonus features - DVD's have less recording space than blu rays. (I have not watched the DVD version, but the video quality cannot be as good as the blu ray for technical reasons.) If you bleed green for our Eagles and have a blu ray player and an HD TV (1080p or better), you will not be disappointed!

If you're an Eagles fan you will love this video. I watched it from beginning to end. Brought me to tears again. It is very well produced. The video and sound are outstanding. As an Eagles fan; there's only a few things that might have made this video package even better than it already is:1) Start with at least a highlight of the 2017 NFL Draft on the Parkway/Art Museum, as the season really started there and finished there.2) Show the complete and unedited speech by Jason Kelce at the Art Museum.3) Show a little overhead footage of the entire parade route (so that the true size of it could be realized).4) I love Malcolm Jenkins as a football player and leader, however I would have nerfed the bonus feature promoting his social justice work.

NFL Films does an absolutely amazing job with this Commemorative Film!! If you are a die hard Eagles fan and you cried/loss your mind when they won the Super Bowl, this is absolutely a must buy!!! Relive the most remarkable season I've ever seen in all of sports!! Personally, the little touches are what make it great. Chief example being how the announcers you hear aren't the national broadcasters but the LEGENDARY Merrill Reese and Mike Quick!! Hearing him yell "THE TRAIN IS IN THE ENDZONE!!" pertaining to Blount's TD run in SBLII still gives me chills!!FLY EAGLES FLY!!!! 🦅🦅🦅 FROM WATCHING THE DEVASTATING NFC CHAMPIONSHIPS DEFEATS AND SUPER BOWL XXXIX LOSS TO THIS!!! IF THIS IS A DREAM, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS RIGHT IN THE UNIVERSE, DON WAKE ME UP!!!! FLY EAGLES FLY!!! 🦅🦅🦅
