Altec Lansing Smartstream X Portable Wi-fi Speaker with Google Chromecast - Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker with Google Assistant Built-in

Am using 4 of these, that I bought at Amazon, to provide sound thru the entire 1st floor of the house. Front porch, living room, back porch. I am using Chromecast, not bluetooth, to have all 4 play music at the same time. So I used Google Home app to configure/add each speaker. THEN I TRIED PANDORA, which is supposed to support casting. Lots of problems. Nothing worked. I was upset. Then I tried Google Play Music --- they work great. Then Youtube Music ---perfect. THERE WERE 2 OTHER CASTING ENABLED APPS I TRIED. NO GOOD.The speakers sound great. I am happy. I am cancelling my Pandora premium acct, and going with Google.

Ok sound, Chromecast functionality is really useful. However the speaker frequently locks up and drops off the wifi when on battery, which means it's basically non-portable.Getting it to connect via Bluetooth is an exercise in futility.

Back in the day, I owned a pair of Altec Lansing computer speakers that I really loved. I purchased these SmartStream X speakers for my new bathroom remodel that we just finished. I chose them because of my previous experience with Altec Lansing and because I have found that Chromecast works better and is more reliable that Bluetooth and Apple Airplay. I plugged them in, and Google Home immediately recognized them and performed the installation flawlessly. Although the sound is not big, it is enough and perfect for my bathroom. I am quite pleased.

I payed $47. It sounds like a $47 speaker too. Having built in chromecast is a big plus. But, it’s a speaker that would be good for a bathroom or somewhere for background music. Definitely not suitable to be used as a party speaker.

I was a bit disappointed in the sound. Does not have much depth. For what I got this for it will do. I do love the fact that it has a battery and Bluetooth as well as Chromcast.I purchased this to add another speaker to my Chromcast home audio.

I've tried the BT feature only on one (worked fine with Galaxy S8), but I have seven of these throughout my house, and the Chromecast streaming feature works great! Setup was easy; there are few instructions because it's very simple. Plug it in, wait a few seconds for the light to flash white, the app picks it up, and asks if you want to set up, hit "Next" until it's done. That's it. Now, I can move around the house and still have music everywhere without it needing to be so loud it disturbs the neighbours. For the size, they sound pretty good, and for the price, I can have whole home audio without breaking the bank.

Piece of crap speaker, DO NOT BUY unless if you don't mind having to reconnect constantly
