The last one lasted 20 years. And this one is thicker.
Some of the reviews mention problems with the cylinder or the keys. They are previous to the 2017 " New-U" design. I think it is not fair to keep them here.I purchased a Kryptonite MegaLok back in May 1998. Twenty years after, in May 2018, the cylinder failed. I have been consistently parking my bicycle outdoors for the last five years, with plenty of rain in the previous months. We had to use an electric grinder (this reminds us that ANY lock, even the "9-10" rated, can be cut in seconds with a power tool).During these twenty years, I lost the keys three times. Every time I got a free replacement in my mailbox, overseas. That's why Kryptonite was my first option when I looked for a replacement.Since this model is not directly available in Spain, where I currently live, I had to buy an expensive Angus chain from a local German store as a temporary solution -but it was too heavy to carry it.The model I got is the longest, the LS, which is about the same length as the previous one I owned.- a few mm longer and wider. In my experience, a smaller lock is not very useful in a city with not too many parking racks. The keys are now stainless steel, and the lock has now a plastic sliding cover to protect it from the water. One of the first things I noticed is that the metal is now thicker than the one I bought in 1998. This is the opposite I expected. Also, the mounting bracket looks much better than the older one (that one lasted a few years). My bicycle frame (yes, I own the same bicycle I purchased along with the lock back in 1998!) is rather small, so I think the reviews that mention space problems to mount the bracket are misleading. The instructions give plenty of details on how to adjust the bracket, although the picture showing the recommended locations might be confusing. The lock does not have to be inside the frame, you only have to care about finding a position that does not impede your pedalling. The problem is that these instructions require the people buying this lock to be literate! :)(See attached picture)IMHO Kryptonite is one of those rare remaining American companies - like Oster and a few others- that still care about quality and customer service. And I want to add that I'm not being paid by Kryptonite to review this lock.------EDITION AFTER 3 YEARS OF DAILY USE:Now I notice the mounting bracket is about the same as 20 years ago. I had to tighten it too often, and I do not use it anymore. Instead, I carry the U lock hanging from the handlebar, facing down to lower the centre of gravity. I see Kryptonite has some room for improvement on this bracket. As for the lock itself, it is working like a charm. However, I recommend using a graphite powder lubricant at the first sign of difficulty opening it.

Nice lock does the job kryptonite Long Shank .
Lock is kryptonite LS . I did not receive lock bracket with lock as stated . I've managed to get lock onto bike . Lock is strong and does the job . Lock is strong well made no issue with key jam and does not rattle on bike now due to them adding rubber bumpers so a good improvement. I have teamed this lock up with kryptonite 90cm evolution 4 chain so with 2 locks the crooks look elseware for a bike to borrow .

Solid as they come for a D lock
Weighs loads and is very very robust, gold standard means that its going to be hard to get into. I have on a folded Brompton and it will fit frame and back wheel to most posts, I use a big double loop of 14mm to secure front wheel. I will not fit to frame when riding so my loss of 1 star is only down to the face that the metal fixing point on the left side of the picture is not removable and so care need to be taken when securing the bike as this has frame scratcter written all over it. I have secured with electrician tape but hopefully when Kryptonite issue the next gen they will make this part removable.

Good Product but NOT SAME AS PICTURE
I bought this product as it is the same as the one I already have and has worked perfectly for the last couple of years. It's not to heavy and does what it says on the tin. So when it arrived it was a bit of a shock. The new one that was sent was the series 4 mentioned in the description not the same as the one in the picture. It was very heavy and way over the top for a £100 bike. OK it would take someone with some serious kit to even attempt removal but it's me who would have to lug it about. So i'm afraid its been returned. FOUR Stars as it really looked the part MINUS ONE Star as its far to heavy for a push bike in my opinion.

) Definitely recommend this
This locker helped me a lot to keep my bike safe and secure. At the beginning I wanted to buy the normal size of Kriptonite Evolution Series4 but than I realized I wont have all the time a narrow pillar to use it so I chose the long Shackled one even if I was a bit afraid to have a huge locker which wont fit my bag - definitely an inspired decision, is not that big and it fits almost every pillar/bench/wall/park pillar whatever I find to lock my bike.Soon I want to get this one as well: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kryptonite-Evolution-Chain-black-padlock/dp/B005YPK8V2/ref=pd_sim_200_7?ie=UTF8&dpID=51Zuk3iE4zL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=V1BCTN0JFYZPCN31JVP2for a double secure procedure :)Definitely recommend this item

Good lock worth investing in.
I cannot foresee anyone finding it worth their time to get through one of these to get my bike. The guidance is to buy a lock that costs 10% of your bike however I would disagree with that. A good D lock ensures you will come back and find your bike where you left whereas with a cable lock no matter what bike the thief can steal your bike and make it worth their time. This lock comes with 3 keys one with a light on it. everything is sturdy and several months after the original purchase the lock still works great.

Lock good, mount bad
Lock itself is very strong looking and has worked very well, however the mount for my frame is not strong enough to handle the weight of this lock and it is constantly coming loose.
