Good value, excellent suction
For a moderately inexpensive and simple vacuum cleaner, this is quite good. It has a similar look, feel and cleaning mechanism to the Dyson ball upright, one of which I used to have. It has a conventional pair of wheels, however, rather than the ball. It has a cyclonic action which is more powerful than I had anticipated. It is certainly very effective at lifting pet hair as well as dust and debris. I did find the air vent adjustment a little laborious and tricky, but with practice, it will probably get easier. The air vent needs to slide left or right depending on the thickness of the carpet/flooring. The control for this is on the front of the machine head so that you have to lean down to manually adjust it each time. I found that travelling over fine carpet onto a thicker rug and back on to the fine carpet was hard work to maximise effectiveness. I have a dog rug which sheds its own fluff when the dogs dig in it to get comfortable. If the vent is not precisely correct (for me this was not quite on the hard floor setting), the fluff is not picked up.It is important, to ensure that the brush is set to the correct position for hard floor versus carpet/rug. This is controlled with a button in front of the on/off switch. There is no indication which way it is set, but as it is on or off, you just have to switch it until it is correct. I can't say I like that. Some sort of indicator would have been helpful.Quick tip: you may find the cord to be a bit of a pain and have to keep moving it around as you work. There is a hook on the handle. Pop the cord into this and vacuuming suddenly becomes much easier. :)The instructions are 'thin'. They tell you how to undo something, but not how to reassemble correctly, so pay attention the first time you remove the top of the container to take out the HEPA pre-motor out or you will have to take some time to work out how it lines up for reassembly. It's not rocket science, but until you are familiar with it, you may find it's tricky. It is lightweight, so easy to move around up and down the stairs. The included tools work reasonably well, but I was not convinced by the supposed ease of attachment to the tube or the hose. All in all, impressive suction, but a little tedious to adjust. Good value compared to a Dyson, but unsurprisingly not as good.
