Love them
Bought them for my wife's birthday. She doesn't like plants that decay and fall apart, so she loved it. Instructions say to cut and replant in a vase or something, but we found it a lot better to keep it in the box by the bedside. The top pops off so its great for displaying the roses without risking dust or dog hair lol.

Real Roses that Last Real Long
I had never heard of preserved roses so when I saw these I was intrigued. Normally when I buy roses they last about two weeks but only if they were really fresh to begin with. Mine were fresh and these are REAL roses.I did some research and found out these roses are purported to last from six months to upwards of three years depending on when they were preserved and how they are displayed. The roses are chemically treated to keep moisture and oxygen out, both of which cause decay over time.I was really fascinated by these so I poked and prodded the flowers and found you can definitely tell they're chemically treated as they're sticky. I think I got a really good set because the stems are rock hard and the flowers are really fresh. When I was examining them I didn't smell any rose scent, the treatment process clearly seals in the smell. So, unless they're sprayed with a rose scented perfume you're not going to smell anything. There are three ways of displaying the roses: just the tops, the whole rose including the stem, and you can cut them and put them in a vase. The box is specifically designed to support these different ways of display.1) To make the roses last the longest, and you're happy just displaying the flower tops you can remove the top when you want them to be seen. To make the roses display well there are two black styrofoam holders with treated rose petals attached to the tops. You open the top of the box and you've got beautiful rose flowers but no stems.2) If you also want to see the stems and leaves you can take the box off and the roses float in their full glory with the base of the stems in a bed of faux moss and held in place by a solid foam base, surrounded by the bottom of the box. This is how you would expect a florist to display the flowers.3) And finally you can always clip the stems and put them in a vase. This is the display option that will make the flowers last the shortest time but you get beautiful roses displaying their full beauty. The quality, freshness, and beauty of these real roses (that will last much, much longer) makes them a winner for me and my mom as I gave them to her on her birthday.

Preserved roses
The first set I received I opened and to my dismay there were tons of leaves broken off everywhere. However, I hesitated in leaving a negative review and decided to order a replacement. The second set came and everything was in tact. These are very pretty and they are presented in a very nice wrapped box ready to be gifted. I am impressed at how much the preservation process helps to preserve the rose’s original essence, look, and color. They are extremely delicate and must be handled with the utmost care. I wish there was someway they could be better protected. I am going to display mine in a hutch. One thing that I love about fresh roses is the smell and well, these smell odd. So, I do miss that aspect. Honestly, I think the cost is quite expensive. I know fresh roses are expensive too. I did compare these with other preserved roses and they are comparably priced, but the cost just seems a lot for 4 preserved roses in a pretty box. I guess I just have mixed feelings. These preserved roses are definitely pretty however they are also very delicate and rather expensive.

Great value as a gift for someone special
The box is a great presentation for the roses, and it's clever that you can choose two ways of displaying them in the box, or remove them from the box and use a vase or some other way of presenting them.If you look closely at the tops of the boxed flowers in those pictures you will see that they are surrounded by rose petals, which looks nice and I think helps add to the experience of them being real.I don't know how they did it, but preserving them so that they can last for three years is impressive, because they look great! My wife didn't think they were real because I told her they last three years, so until she looked at the site and believed me she couldn't figure out how they did such a perfect job of creating them =)There are some spots you can see between and under some petals where they glued them into place, but it only took a couple adjustments to make that not noticeable.I was thinking that they shipped pretty well since only one little stem broke off, but if you look closely at the pictures on the description page one of them shows a little stem laying at the base of the flowers, so that may be a way to make them even more obviously real.Pro tip: If you take both the top section and middle section of the box off the flowers and then put the middle section back on, do so very carefully and deliberately or you will find your flowers a few stems lighter when you remove the middle section again. And if any others of you also aren't sure what the polystyrene is that you cut off, it's that grey box of foam holding the tops of the roses in place. My wife and kids love these. It's a unique gift of flowers that will stay beautiful for much longer than a week, and you don't have to stop and pick them up on the way home every week from work =)
