Exciting and excellent read!!
A very enjoyable and exciting adventure. I particularly enjoyed Aledra fighting to be true to herself, no matter what hardships she had to endure.

Great story!
I really enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next one. The only thing I could say needs improvement is that the book really needs an editor for grammar and spelling.

It’s not bad
I picked this up because it mentioned if you loved Fourth Wing this would be a good Rex. I think that is a bit generous as it’s not anything like Fourth Wing. That said- it’s a good story. A bit slow and it never really picks up the pace. But I liked Aledra. She was a good character and the end makes me wonder about a sequel- it kinda sets up for one. Overall 3 solid stars.

A Different Story
Unusual perspective for a tale about dragons and humans. I really enjoyed the developing relationship between Aledra and Jubal as they explore the world around them. I will look for the next installment.

Excellent start to a new series
It has been a while since I've come across a book that I really liked. The concepts are interesting. The character development is good. I actually began to care what happened to the main characters. Looking for the next book.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK. 5 STARS! THE END.Just kidding, I’ll actually review Second Skin, but if you couldn’t tell, this is going to be a glowing review. This is my first read from Sue Bentley, and it certainly won’t be my last. I cannot wait to continue on in this series.I absolutely love Aledra. Her journey from a young child to a powerful badass warrior was fun to read about. I think Sue Bentley handled the amount of characters in this story really well. It took me a bit to get them all straight, but when it all came together it made sense.I really enjoyed the world-building in this novel. The clans were interesting, the cultures and rules. I love how put together and consistent it all was. Sue Bentley has created a really cool world in Second Skin, and I think it will only get better with future novels in the series.I highly recommend checking out Second Skin! Now go get your copy!*I received a complimentary copy of this book as part of a blog tour with Random Things Tours. All opinions are my own.*

Good but could have been great
This book had a great beginning and a decent ending, but the middle just drug on forever. It could have used some additional editing for typographical errors and slow spots that needed trimming. It also had a second plot line and antagonist for some reason and I never fully understood the point. I’m guessing that this is the first book of a series and maybe some of the major questions left in this book might get explained later, but who knows how long that might take. The characters are well written and you love the ones you’re supposed to love and hate the ones you’re supposed to hate. If I ever run across the next book I’ll probably read it, but I don’t know that I would actively seek it out.

not the worst thing I’ve read
This is like Fourth Wing in that there are dragons and war. This is like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in that there is a ridiculously long, drawn out middle “camping” section that could have been pared down significantly.Aledra is the daughter of a Drakkoni (dragon shifter) general and a half-blood woman. Raised with little involvement from her father and none from her biological mother, she is brought to the castle for her 18th birthday, where her stepmother’s death triggers a string of events. Escaping from the castle and the violence, Aledra disguises herself as a male Esran (human tribe) and pairs with another refugee that she rescues. The “romance” in this is about as implausible as the romance in Mulan. The middle is long and drawn out, but the beginning and the end were pretty solid. This book could have also used another round of editing.

Refreshing
I loved the storyline. It flowed nicely, I became invested in the characters and slightly frustrated with them, too.Was quite the adventure story hints of romance lots of action.I wish it had been a little longer by another book or 2.

Second Skin
I didn't enjoy this as much as her book, We other but this was an entirely different gender . Will try the Next one in the series just to see if gets better.

Gripping and entertaining
Really loved this story, it felt fresh and interesting from start to finish, although the ending happened way too soon for my liking.Feels like a really strong start to a much longer story and I can’t wait to hear how the world fills out as it goes

A Fantastic Fantasy ...
This is another cracking fantasy novel by Sue Bentley. It instantly engaged me, drawing me into the sweep of dramatic landscapes and the fiery heart of her heroine Aledra. The characters were very believable, despite inhabiting a very different world to ours. And whenever I'm not feeling quite comfortable in my own skin (which happens quite a lot in these tricky times!) I just imagine what it would be like to find myself in another skin altogether - the skin of a very different begin ... Highly recommended.

Epic fantasy, vividly portrayed
Second Skin is an epic fantasy which draws in the reader through its strong characterization and vivid imagery. From the outset you find yourself drawn to Aledra and can’t help but will her on in her plight; yet she is such a determined character she needs little help. Its rich descriptive language immerses you in another world, but one which is at the same time believable which I personally like. It brought to mind the infamous Game of Thrones, but is more tender and less violent.
