Q: How many gallons of water/ nutes do you start with?

It’s a 5 gallon bucket but you will need just enough water to reach 1’ above the basket at first and mark the level with a marker on the tube. It’s roughly 3-3 1/2 gallons. As for nutes the rule of thumb is less is best. Ex. If your nutrients call for 5ml/gallon I would cut it back to 2-2 1/2ml/gallon

Q: How big is the size of the lid? Diameter wise? I want to buy 6" net pot that will fit this

The outside diameter of the 5 gallon pail is @ 12" and it actually comes with an 8" basket pot that fits over the bucket. I know you said you wanted a 6" net pot but we wanted you to know there was a misprint and it should be an 8" pot. We will be changing the description shortly. 8 buckets for the RS5GAL8SYS model....the boxes are different so it's easy to tell if you received the correct model (amount of buckets included with the system). If you did not receive the entirety of your order, please contact Amazon or the seller for the remainder of the system or replacement.
