I Installed this light in an enclosed and recessed, wall mounted fixture. Operating bulbs in fully enclosed fixtures is sometimes problematic because heat builds up in the fixture and damages the bulb. So if bulbs cannot stand the increased heat, their specification typically states, "NOT TO BE USED IN ENCLOSED FIXTURES." In the case of the bulb I bought, it went off after some period of time, which I assume was because the bulb got too hot and its internal overtemperature protection turned it off. So unless I received a lemon, the bulb apparently is not rated for operation in an enclosed fixture, although there is nothing in the product description that states this. For other applications, I am sure this bulb will work fine.

overheats after a few hours and shuts down

I really wanted to like this bulb, but even though the item description clearly describes a color temperature of 6500k, the light this gives off is clearly warmer. I would estimate probably in the 5000 range. It's very bright, but simply not the right color temp.

This bulb is listed as 25W and the output is comparable to an incandescent bulb in the 250W range. It has been a few months, since I installed it and it is apparently still as bright as when installed. The light is towards the "blue" end of the spectrum. Because light color is a matter of taste, I have no comment on that.

I wonder if this will drive the plants near the bulbs nuts because they will get day light 24 hours a day now. On the plus side the area is super well light thieves may avoid your house

Paid $10 for this. The week I received it, was on sale at Menards for $25. This bulb gives equivalent light of 250w of a conventional bulb but only uses 25w. Will be getting another one for my main basement light.
