Accurate cry detect, easy to set up and use
We absolutely love this baby monitor! The cry detect is surprisingly accurate and it is nice to be able to have both the app and a handheld baby monitor device! It was easy to set up and use!

Needs a standalone volume button; cannot get it to connect to smart home devices
UPDATE: I've been trying to connect this to my smart home devices for months. Have followed all the instructions, done factory resets, ensured all devices are connected to the same 2.4 ghz network... and no dice. I contacted costumer service and have a pretty lengthy back and forth with them - have done everything they said, and it still doesn't work. This applies to both Google Home and Alexa. I am pretty confident that the problem is the device and their *terrible* app (spelling mistakes, outdated screenshots and instructions, links that go nowhere, and a redirect to a login page that says my account doesn't exist, when customer service has confirmed my account does indeed exist). I have countless smart home devices - lights, plugs, a mini-split, humidifiers, etc. Some have been frustrating to install, but this takes the cake. It's too late to return this item or else I would. The AI feature is free for 60 days which is probably how long we need it for anyway. It has been helpful in the beginning to figure out baby’s cries, but it’s not totally accurate. Picture quality is great. The monitor battery isn’t that long as others have mentioned, but it’s not terrible. It absolutely needs a standalone, physical (or easier to access digitally) volume button. It’s not a dealbreaker for us because we only have one kid, but I could see it being an issue for some families and some sleeping dynamics.

Best high-tech option
This is by far the best high-tech baby monitor out there. We tried numerous competitors and kept this one.The cry assist actually works somewhat well, although I wouldn’t pay for it personally. The ability to backup to SD card is great! No more scams for cloud backup.

YES ! Another Maxi Must Have!
We love this baby monitor . It’s super easy to connect and use via app or parent monitor . We have other Maxi smart products so it’s extremely convenient to link and access everything through one app. (Humidifier, sound soother, crib light, etc)The quality is amazing and clear. The cry assist has proven to be so accurate and the detection time is super quick.I haven’t had any issues with it. . After the free 6 month cry assist feature, It continues to alert you if the baby cries with the cry detection … it just won’t translate it. The sensor picks up from different floors and pretty far ranges. We are extremely happy with this monitor!

Absolutely Fantastic
I have been very impressed with the quality of this monitor. We have had a DXR-8 camera for years, but this unit is a huge upgrade. The picture quality is fantastic and the screen on the monitor is the perfect size. The night vision mode is surprisingly crisp. The cry alert is a feature that seems useful, but I have not yet figured out how to best utilize it. I have found that I like the functionality of the monitor when not connected to Wi-Fi. When you have it setup through the app also, the monitor seems to fight the app for control of the camera and it also puts a text timestamp on the image, which I have found to be very annoying and distracting. So, I reset the monitor back to factory settings and now only use the monitor and not the app. The only feature that the DXR-8 had that I wish this unit had, was the visual LED indicator that visually shows the amplitude of the sound. This feature can help you determine your child's level of distress at a glance.

Cheap product and not worth the money
The camera has a limited range of motion. It doesn’t do a good job of looking down into a bassinet or crib if you have it sitting on furniture instead of mounted to the wall, so you have to prop it up with other things to make up for it.The monitor barely works and it’s the most frustrating part of this product. It constantly goes “offline” (meaning it lost connection with the camera), even when it’s in the same room as the camera, so you have to restart the monitor for it to connect again. Also the buttons only work half the time so you have to press them multiple times for it to respond. Its really not ideal when you’re trying to check the monitor in the middle of the night and your significant other is a light sleeper. Not sure if it’s the camera, monitor, or both, but the picture quality isn’t what I’d expect for a new product purchased in 2024. Barely any color and the image isn’t super clear (I often need to zoom in to see if my baby is awake).

Updated after 3 months of use
Update: After using this camera for a few months I decided to get rid of it. it is LOUD compared to other baby monitors I have used. And on days when my toddler would scream or whatever It was hard to change the volume (its a 4 step process. there is no specific volume button). The basic volume is like max volume on most of my other monitors. and max volume is just wayyyy to loud. like yelling. Yes you can adjust the alerts to only hear talking when your little one is crying or talking... and it will mute the rest of the time in sleep mode. And while that is still super cool, after a while I decided I did not like it because It would not alert me when my toddler would wake up and started playing quietly because it was not that sensitive.Personally... I think this is a better monitor for a baby than a toddler. Which is fine. but it still has some weird quirks. and the volume button while I thought was not a big deal is a deal breaker for me.------------This camera is FANCY. We have always had basic cameras for our little babies, but for my 4th baby I wanted something else. This camera is so fancy i do not know what to do with it! While I do think half of the features are not necessary. They are kinda cool once it learns your baby.
