The Tenth Man: The Great Joke

Another great book by WWW
I have read (Hah! Did I DO the reading?) just about all WWW's books and enjoyed every single one. Each book approaches the ancient understanding of "Awakening to the Truth" from slightly different directions but the center of attention remains the same. This is difficult since what ends up being pointed at doesn't "exist" as we imagine it in the first place. I've read many books on Zen, Buddhism, Taoism, Advaita-ism, Non-Duality, neuro-science, and WWW's books seems to combine/yet strip all these teachings down to their core. He uses stories, his incredible intelligence, wit, persuasion, and paradox to also make this subject enjoyable to read. After reading almost any one of these short passages there seems to be a sense of resonance and a moment of clarity where just sitting there is all that you can do.What is also great about these books are that once you think you've understood something he wrote, he pull that out from under you as well. Meditation, the Middle Way, methods of practice, etc. are all brought into the spotlight of "Mind" and not just accepted as part of "The Path". His books are not to be read quickly. Preferably done first thing in the morning, when the world is still quiet, and with a strong cup of coffee or tea.Even to write this review was tough. I'm almost ready to delete this and not review the book. Whatever I say isn't it. How do you write a review of a book that concerns a subject that can't be stated in words, and by an author who himself states that he doesn't really exist, except as a concept in Mind only. But as one zen teacher said "You have to say something or no one will understand." So it seems I'll submit it.If you enjoyed reading this book you might also want to read books by Steve Hagen, Alan Watts, Shunryu Suzuki, Brad Warner, Nisargadatta, Kristamurti, and Tom Metzinger. Thanks!!

Vajra, a diamond blade...
It might be a little more immediate to get hit in the head with certain shamanic herbs...but if language can do damage to the matrix's sleep, this book should do it for you. Personally, I thought the author's brilliant elucidation of the prajnaparamita sutras, in just a few lines, was worth selling your field to buy.If you're here, this book is probably for you. If you get it and it isn't, hey...what have you lost? lol Be warned: "Heavy Deconstruction."

The Kindle version appears to have technical issues: the fonts are a pale shade of grey which makes it difficult to read (no amount of tinkering with it helped). Had to return it unfortunately and buy the hard copy instead.

Post-reading Review
Five stars pretty much says it all. Don't just read it, become intimate with the teaching and absorb it. What else is there for me to say?

Beyond Words
Don't let the apparent cleverness put you off. What is being attempted to be described is, by consensual agreement, literally beyond words.Wei Wu Wei can bring you to a shuddering awareness in a handful of words. To have written these books and be anything other than an expression of truth is laughable. Read slowly, repeatedly and lovingly and the veracity of his expression and style will eventually lead you to the inescapable conclusion that you are already in the promised land if you would only let it simultaneously find you and annihilate you. Breathtaking superfluous verbiage!!

Was fuer ein Kleinod!

Best spiritual book ever!!
A profound book - complicated in the very extreme - frustrating and will have you tearing clumps of your hair out at times but absolutely brilliant. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

Cant recommend any of Wei Wu Wie's enough
Highly readable book for those into Zen or non duality. In parts a dense and challenging read.It is not a primer for the subject.Cant recommend any of Wei Wu Wie's enough. It is fortunate they are still in print.
