Was skeptical but totally happy so far. A "gateway drug" to chipping.
Sorry if this review is TMI, but I'm a newbie chipper and wasn't sure of what to look for in a chipper. It took me 4 years to convince myself to order this. My short advice is...Yes. Order it but don't have unrealistic and grandiose expectations that you are getting an Asplundh Tree Service truck. I ordered this on a Saturday night and it arrived the next day Sunday afternoon. Bravo Amazon! Item was delivered by a larger amazon truck with liftgate service and hand trucked to my garage. The driver required a code that was emailed to me...try to have that ready for delivery. It came in one box that weighed about 90#. It was packed well and had no missing parts and no damage. Assembly was very straightforward with good instructions and exact parts in well labelled bags...Took me maybe an hour with only a socket wrench, crescent wrench (and pliers for the wheel cotter pins). It was truly an easy, "no swearing" assembly. Parts are all solid thick steel. I was kind of expecting something a bit cheaper reading other reviews of chippers in this price range. But this unit isn't cheaply made. Overall, it was probably a bit smaller in size than I was expecting. Although its one of the least pricey gas chippers on the market, it is a serious tool. Once assembled, I filled it with about 1/2 liter of engine oil and about 1/2 gallon of regular gasoline. All in all, zero complaints with the product, delivery and assembly. Perfect. Assembled, the chipper was easily wheeled to a job site. (Its a bit heavy to dead lift, but you could probably load it and it would fit into a minivan or large SUV with another person helping to lift .) I usually don't read the manuals, but I wanted to be able to safely operate this machine, so I took a few minutes (10-15 mins) to understand all the switches and controls. Worth the time. There was at least one typo in the manual (it is made in China, after all). The brand new motor started up literally with one pull and then idled smoothly. I was cautious at first, so I didn't give it much to handle. Fairly quickly, you will get a pretty good feel for the machine's capabilities. As a homeowner/chipping novice , I sorta didn't realize that when it says 3", it doesn't mean a 3" diameter log, it really means circumference. I will post some pictures when able, but I would estimate that this unit can handle branches up to about 1.25" of true diameter with little trouble...Dry pine branches went thru easy...Harder woods went thru just as well, but slightly slower with engine working harder. Wetter/greener branches tended to shred a bit more. Ultimately, I didn't try anything that was more than 1.25" inches in diameter and it handled them perfectly. Straight, hard branches worked best. Stringy small leafy branches usually needed a little coaxing to go thru. The output throw was maybe 3-4 feet The unit didnt come with any kind of bag. The output spout height is relatively low (maybe 3' -3.5' high), so its hard to direct output into a tall barrel or trashcan. I used my lawn tractor wheel barrow just tipped up to catch "most" of the chips. Not a huge issue for me but you might consider where the chippings will be spit out to ensure that you have a suitable receptacle. The machine was very stable and didn't bounce or move around when chipping. Overall, I am totally satisfied. I've used it for about 2 running hours and zero issues with this machine. It wasn't nearly as noisy as some people have commented, but you absolutely need to wear some hearing protection. Occasionally, with larger branches, a stray small chunk bounced out of the intake chute, but that's the main reason for eye protection. Absolutely wear good gloves. I had a tendency to touch the machine's very hot exhaust shield to stabilize when I pulled the starter cord...Yeah, don't do that. Wear good thick/leather gloves and don't touch the exhaust shield when the machine has been run recently. If you have fairly large branches that you need to chip, you probably will want to go up in size...You just need to have realistic expectations of the size branches/wood you need to chip. This is a great machine but you aren't going to feed a big tree trunk into this machine. For me, it is a perfect "gateway drug" for chipping and once you are hooked on chipping and if you have big stuff to chip, you'll soon want to move up the biggest machine you can afford. I rarely give great reviews because I usually find something to be ticked off about, but this is a10/10 rating. I love this machine so far, and actively looking for more stuff to chip (....no, landscaping stuff. you know, stuff around in my yard, just to be clear ;) Will add updates with more use and longevity. ...

Great machine...
I've run my new chipper three times now, each time for probably 90 minutes or so. What a beast. I'm handy around the house, but I'm not an engine expert, not by any means, so I was a bit apprehensive. But I have lots of branches to get rid of, and more to come, so this is really what I needed. After some positive YouTube reviews, I pulled the trigger. So far, so good! Fairly easy to assemble, well packaged. Comes in two boxes, one more of a wooden crate. Bolts, etc., marked for each step. No problem there. Wrenches provided, I used them along with my socket set. Directions not bad. Air filter directions a bit fuzzy, but look at the pictures, it falls into place. After filling it with oil and gas, I cranked it up. Like other reviewers have said, starts on first or second pull. It takes a little more work than I had expected to get things down the chute, you have to kind of help odd shaped things along. If you have 2-2.5 inch branches, no matter how long, it eats those for breakfast. I keep a larger branch aside, probably 3 or 4 inches, that I use as a prod-poker to help get brush and branches into the blades. Haven't had a jam yet, that I'm glad for. You can't help but reach into the chute at times, but the blades are pretty far down there, I haven't felt like I was in any danger of losing a finger or anything. BUT-stuff will come shooting out from time to time, and it is LOUD (I mean REALLY loud), eye and ear protection are a must. Very manageable size and weight, I can roll it down my steep driveway while also carrying a rake or a trash can. One of the handles broke on the foldable bin they include the first time I used it, but that's kind of a throw-in anyway. I bought a 20 gallon trash can at HD that fits perfectly under the chute. I really can't think of a downside, unless it suddenly stops running or something. Warranty seems good, new blades are available online, plus they give you a second set with purchase anyway. Doesn't look like I'll be buying mulch for a while. I had some interaction with customer service, answered my questions promptly, no problems there. Shipped from Irwindale, Ca., so at least there is some U.S. presence Do your research of course, but my experience has been good. Very happy with this well built machine, really gets the job done. UPDATE 5/6/2021: Still happy with machine, only problem I've had is with sharpening blades. I must be bad at it, because don't work very well at all after I sharpen them. I may try to have them professionally done next time. They do seem to run out of blades online a lot lately... Update 9/1/2021: I've been using this a lot lately, clearing out trees and brush. My latest set of blades have lasted a very long time, happy with that. I have had a few jams (machine stops instantly), but they clear out pretty easily once you take off the covers. Takes 20-30 minutes. I also have started putting fresh cut branches down the chute, leaves and all. Still works great. Better if dried, but can't always wait. Feel I've gotten my money's worth and more. 2/3/2022-With the cold weather, I changed the oil, blew out the air filter and stored the chipper in the shed. We had a somewhat warm day this week, thought I'd get rid of a pile of sticks and branches I've been saving for spring. Started first pull! Last time I changed the blades, some of the bolts rounded off when I used my impact driver. Had to invest in a stripped bolt remover set from Lowes, problem easily solved. You'll end up changing out all the nuts and bolts that go along with the blades from time to time. Efcut Customer service sent me a link to Amazon item for correct size, good to have extras.

I was a little hesitant to buy a machine like this on Amazon, but I was absolutely shocked by the overall quality of this product. I have been using it non stop since it arrived. I was incredibly impressed by the packaging alone; there wasn't a single scratch on anything. The instructions were absolutely fool proof; they separate all the hardware into separate bags and label them according to the step numbers. I had it put together filled with oil and gas and chipping wood within 25 minutes. The chipper definitely chips 3 inch diameter branches or trees, but it's important to note that anything over 2 inches should be fed in little by little as to not overload the motor and stall out. I just keep both hands on the tree or limb and feed a little in and pull back, then again and again until the diameter has reduced to below 2 inches, then the machine handles it without any problems. The chips come out pretty fine and have a huge variety of uses. Would absolutely recommend this chipper.

Wow my sister has 3 inch chipper. I borrowed it and I had a hard time getting stuff to go in the hole was so small. Like 3 1/4 square hole that you try to put 3 inch into but if anything sticking out its not going. I was tired after 10 mins from ramming and jamming. This beast has at least a 6 inch hole so stuff goes in way easier and it pulls it in most of the time by its self. Big ones you have to hold back. But a 2 or 2 1/2 inch branch doesn't even slow the motor. Now it is loud you most definitely need hearing protection. I have not had anything jump back out and smack me in face but I will wear the shield anyway. Very easy assembly. Doesn't start worth a poo I am hoping it is because new and breaking in but backfires when trying to start. I have to pull cord 3x fast have it not stop spinning between pulls. UPDATE : I was right it is a great machine. Cleared it all in no time. Hearing is a little worse now though. Hearing protection is definitely required. And not noise canceling earbuds. Actual muffs or 33dlb I used 28 and my ears have been ringing for 2 days . Also leather gloves is handy as machine will pull branch out of your hand sometimes and some bark is ruff especially dog wood.

The unit has to be assembled from just looking at pictures. I sure there are YouTube video's on how to assembled the united. There is also a customer service number you can call for help. I feel if you do not have any mechanical experience you may need to get some help to assembled it. I did it within 30 minutes. The machine works great handle 3" cedar branches at 50% motor speed. I was chipping some old dry dead 2.5" maple and had to turn the speed up to maximin, but it got the job done. The wood chips are as mention by the company 3/8" or less, which is great the use in the garden as a covering. The metal use to make the machine is a higher grade then I thought for the price. Every happy with results, after 2025 ice storm in my area, made clean up fast and simple.

This chipper is awesome. Eats up 2-2.5" branches no problems. A 3" branch needs to be fed alurtle slower but it easily chips it up quickly. Found blades need a quick sharpened every 2-3 hours of use on fairly hard maples. Engine starts great cold. I found when warm if it doesn't stat in 2 pulls put choke on full starts immediately shut choke off quickly and away you go. Fir such a small chipper it's impressive. Shoot is just high enough to fit most wheel burrows under but watch hot exhaust on plastic wheel burrows it will melt a hole. Also when hot be carefull not to put your hand on exhaust even though it has a shield it will burn you. Love it
