Q: How much weight would hold ?

I am using it as a side table in my condo living room to put my hot or cold drink. It’s pretty sturdy, I think it can hold a 6 inch diameter potted plant.

Q: Can you just use the bottom shelf…not assemble to the top shelf?

I would think you can, just use the top shelf on top of one tier of legs.
