Ecological Literacy: Educating Our Children for a Sustainable World (The Bioneers Series)

This is an excellent book for teachers, parents and anyone who cares whether the next generation has the background they need to make sustainable living choices. There are explanations and examples for implementation. The book is a lifeline for those seeking how to teach sustainability and environmental consciousness.

This book needs to be read by all. It explains why we treat the planet like we do and just how uneducated most of us are about the planet we live on. If we all had to read this book in school the ecosystem would be in a very different place, a better place. I love Orr's writing style, direct and to the point. This is one of my top 10 books right now.

Book arrived in less than expected condition.

I really like this collection - it has a great breadth and depth. I like the systems based approach proposed by Fritjof Capra and there's a great essay by Wendell Berry. Several other great thinkers, too.

although this book finds itself to be old in some measure, the ideas within expressed are as useful as ever they were if one desires to educate others or oneself to be indeed literate of things ecological.

Living Education: The Power of the Circle This book explores the depth of the challenges of thinking ecologically. I was especially impressed by the focus that is put on process within the decision making process. The variety of topics, and authors offers a wide take on the issues, challenges and hurdles as we move as a society to seeing the world more clearly. Well done.

This is a must read for anyone who is interested in the welfare of the planet and how we can educate ourselves and our children for the future. For those who are not worried about such things it will be the wake up call you need.
