If there is a big gap, then the guitar will be uncomfortable and difficult to play, but strings like this may it slightly more tolerable. If the gap is big, you would probably be better off investing in a well set up instrument rather than spending much on fixing or restringing that one. If the string height is acceptable, then you would get a better sound with bronze acoustic strings, rather than these nickel electric strings.
