Minicraft RC-121C/D USAF 1/144 Scale with 2 Marking Options

This kit is almost identical to their older, discontinued, US Navy EC-121 Warning Star kit. The instructions are new and more detailed. The plastic is slightly lighter in color than the older USN kit, but the parts are identical, right down to the frame part numbers. The only thing missing (if you wanted the Navy version) are the decals. This to me, seems like a major over-site since they could sell this same kit to both Navy & Air Force lovers. Of course, the box only has the USAF photos & also would have to be changed for a dual-use model kit. I actually bought this kit for spare parts for the USN version that I also have (just in case I screw something up). I have not started either kit so I can't go into any detail about that. I saw the USN decal sheet somewhere on the web recently, so if you can find & print the USN decals (water-decal paper is available here at Amazon), you could have the exact USN version using this USAF kit. I know this is not real relevant to this USAF kit, but I thought those who might be looking for the USN version would like to know this information.

What I didn’t like is the small scale. It is perfect for displaying and not taking up a lot of room.

I'm 79 yrs old. A bit difficult, but I like it. I should have gone with a pre built!

Met my expectations regarding the model quality. The instructions left out information regarding painting the fuselage, so I had to guess based on available internet photos and other resources (i.e. where natural aluminum was used on the aircraft, wasn't clearly delineated). Very simple to put together and handle otherwise!

The model arrived all right and I started to put it together right away, Before I got started I had to buy the glue and i also got the needed paints to finish it. I am taking my time so as not to screw up a great model of the RC121D.
