Isla Crown fights to earn respect as leader of two realms, facing betrayal and unraveling secrets from the past in this seductive, action-packed sequel. Review: BUY IT NOW - It has been a long time since I haven’t been able to put a book down, and this series gripped me from the first chapter. I fear I will not take another breath until the next book is realised SO PLEASE!!!! I NEED THE NEXT ONE!!! PLEASEEEEEEE Fantastic. Very well written and the story just sucks you in. Buy it now(or wait for the book to come out so you don’t feel this way, but defo read them) Review: Addictive series with neverending plot twists - Nightbane is the second book in the LightLark series by Alex Aster. After the dramatic finale of LightLark, I was absolutely desperate to read this book to find out what was going to happen. Isla is back and navigating her way through the aftermath of how the centennial ended. She is grappling with learning to deal with her present reality, whilst finding her past. The book switches from Isla’s present to past a lot, and at times it felt like it was an overly used technique. However, like in LightLark, you are learning everything through her eyes, her memories, and her truth is your truth as a reader. I loved all the characters in this book, and the tension between Isla and her love interests is off the charts. This book held more spice than the last, but still kept it in the YA fantasy realm. The ending had an equally unexpected plot twist, and this time, I found it hard to guess what was going to happen. An exciting read which kept me on my toes, and now to delve into Skyshade!

Addictive series with neverending plot twists

Good read
This is a fun read and takes over from the first book and Isla is definitely a very engaging main character. Sometimes when characters become so all powerful, they begin to lose the flaws and quirks that make them interesting and that didn’t happen here. Isla still has far more to learn and is still committed to learning it. The book took a little longer to get into than Lightlark and I felt that some of the chemistry with Oro was missing so that when they did get together it felt rather forced. By contrast the relationship with Grim was shown through flashbacks and felt much deeper and more natural. I think also the author has cleverly created a character where even though everyone is manipulating her, Isla doesn’t seem weak. She just makes choices based on the decisions available to her. It would be very easy for this to slip into a situation where she becomes foolish and that doesn’t happen. Will be interested to see the third instalment!

Meh
Was trying very hard but could not finish the book. The first part was much better, this time the plot feels forced and dialogue is boring. Won't be waiting for the 3rd part

5⭐️ Excuse me but… WHAT?!?! That ending has me needing the next book INSTANTLY! I LOVED all of this, the way the whole story unfolded slowly. I usually don’t like a load of flashbacks but I was absolutely feral for them, I couldn’t wait for the next one. I thought this was done really well, kept me guessing what she was going to do and decide the whole time. I thought that by the end she was going to go a certain way and be sure of it. So the way that this actually ended has my jaw hanging open.

Amazing!
I only bought the first book as I wasn’t sure how I would like it but even though it started off as a slow burner as soon as I was 100 pages in I ordered this second book and it did not disappoint! I’m already waiting for the 3rd and last book to come out!

Letto in inglese perché non potevo aspettare l’uscita italiana. Ne è valsa la pena sinceramente, era da tanto che non rimanevo cosi sconvolta e presa da un libro. Non vedo l’ora esca il terzo.
