Turkish Grammar in Practice introduces grammar to learners at beginner to intermediate level. It is not a course book but a reference and practice book which can be used by learners attending classes or working alone. --- This book consists of 114 units, each on a grammatical topic. The units cover the main areas of Turkish grammar. The explanations are on the left-hand page, and the exercises are on the right-hand page. Plenty of sample sentences and conversations help you use grammar in real-life situations. The explanations are followed by exercises that practise the new language in authentic situations. There are also 15 units in Grammar Essentials section. These units do not have exercises. They are designed to focus on grammar points which are important for reading and writing Turkish. An important feature of this book is that it provides over 2000 sample sentences and around 3000 practice questions by using the most common 1900 Turkish words. The dictionary at the end of the book presents the English meaning of all the words used in the book. You can look words up as and when needed. There is a full answer key for you to check your answers to the exercises in the book.- -- This book aims to serve as a reference and practice book for those working alone or attending classes. The units are not organized progressively but instead, attention has been given to present the most basic grammar topics in the early units. You can start at the beginning of the book and work through to the end, although the grammar topics are not ordered according to their level of difficulty. If you are already familiar with the language, you can choose relevant units. There is a detailed contents section to help you do so easily. To ensure the newly-presented grammar topic is ingrained in your mind, you are encouraged to do the exercises on the right-hand page. As there are plenty of example sentences and dialogues in both pages of the unit, you can also come up with your own dialogues and practice conversations.Turkish Grammar in Practice will also be a useful supplementary book for teachers. If you are already using a course book, present the grammar explanation on the left-hand page, then ask students to read the example sentences. Also, if there is a conversation, ask two students to read it aloud. Review: Helpful layout and discussion of concepts - What I like about this book is that it talks about one grammatical point, one page at a time and then gives you a page of exercises to reinforce that point. In some other grammar books, they introduce a number of topics and then give you the exercises at the end of the chapter. The other thing I like is that it gives you references to related topics so you don't need to try to find more info if you don't remember or are unclear about them. Review: Best book out there for a hands-on, post-Duolingo experience. Period. - The app Duolingo was my choice to learn Turkish, and it gets you somewhere. Yes. But it lacks the systematic approach, and "Turkish Grammar in Practice" is a wonderful book to fill that gap. So, if you have gotten your feet wet and are beginning to grasp basic concepts of Turkish, but want a more systematic approach to a lot of grammatical topics, look no further. Examples are successively given in around 120 "units," are clearly color-coded, have little cute pictures as illustrations, and help to understand the general rules. In and by itself you will most likely NOT learn Turkish from this book, but: it is an incredible resource to get to the bottom of grammatical rules. I love it, and recommend it to anybody who is serious about learning Turkish. (I wish there was a second edition coming up, with more advanced topics. Oh, well, first I have to get there.)

Well designed and comprehensive
I am so grateful to have found this grammar book. I love grammar and have found this to be very thorough. The organization of the book is well thought out and it has helped solidify the concepts I’m learning with my online teacher.

Best Turkish as a second language book
I am a native Turkish speaker. I bought this for my 14 year old daughter as Turkish is her second language and never took lessons before. She loves it and is showing a lot of effort, it makes a lot of sense to her now.

Excellent book
An excellent book for those who are serious about learning the Turkish language. Units are arranged in a progressive way, nonetheless, you can skip and browse about as needed. The exercises, diagrams, drawings, and grammar are presented in an utterly friendly, hands-on way. Highly recommended to crack your learning hours.

Never seen anything like it before!!
I taught Turkish for many years and I think this is the best self-study reference and practice book I've ever seen!!! Learning Turkish can't get any simpler than this! Being an ESL teacher for many years, the author understands the learners' challenges and have addressed a wide range of common mistakes most people might make while teaching or learning Turkish grammar. I believe this is one of the best sources of learning Turkish language. I wish this book existed when my students had been asking me for a reference book for many years. I certainly recommend it whether you'd like to study Turkish yourself or teaching Turkish.

A fun work book for grownups too!
This workbook reminds of the ones we used to do in elementary school. You do need some basic Turkish vocabulary before using or you will be looking EVERYTHING up. I found this is a nice supplement to Duolingo, which does a poor job explaining grammar to you.

Short, precise, to the point
I love that each grammatical rule is explained over only 2 pages, simply and precisely. I wish there was an exercise book with it but it's fine. I can find those on the Internet. Amongst the best grammar books I've bought, and not decided to chuck away. Recommend it for any Turkish beginner. My only criticism is that it doesn't include all the grammar, and hence my 4 star rating.

Definitely worth it!
The textbook is extremely helpful! Every grammar rule is explained with a lot of important details and with examples! It's all very systematically arranged. So it's easy to follow the explanations. There are a lot of exercises which I love. Plus it's full of cute illustrations. The textbook is suitable both for beginners and people who already know some Turkish but want to improve their skills.
