Gritty Blenders 51mm Bottomless Portafilter with Compatible Puck Screen, Basket and Dosing Funnel | Compatible with De'Longhi Dedica EC680-685, and Smeg ECF Models Only

It looks beautiful and initially very happy - however when extracting coffee spurts and leaks everywhere and then I’m left with a watery shot of coffee with no crema.

Having used a bottomless porta filter for many years I decided to get a replacement. The weight gives the porta filter a quality feel and when first connected to the machine it feels like the OME and the pakaging is very nice. However I had to change my grind settings to get it to flow correctly and worked well until recently as after a few months of use its starting to spray and the fit is not as tight as it was so is leaking intermittently when in use. Might get a new ims to see if it improves.

Not too bad, a little splashy and messy if I'm honest, I've reverted back to the stock portafilter.

I bought this for my De'Longhi Dedica EC685 and in general it's a great improvement. This review is comparing this kit with the stock/OEM parts as I imagine most people will interested in this kit as an upgrade to the stock items.Pros:- Allows you to use better filter baskets (they don't fit in the OEM portafilter without destructive modification)- You can view your shots as they're pulled to diagnose/tweak issues- general fit and finish is good - it's weighty and well machined- pucks knock out really cleanly - this is a big issue with the stock pressurised baskets with their removable screens and rubber gaskets that make puck removal and cleaning tricky- removable wooden handle is a nice touch - it allows you to soak / deep clean the portafilter without risking damage to the handle- puck screen seems to work well- the dosing funnel makes filling and distributing a much less messy experienceCons:- the basket retaining spring/clip is super tight. While this ensures the basket doesn't come out when knocking out pucks, it is really hard to remove without feeling you'll damage/deform the basket.- the dosing funnel has two issues: the magnets are pretty weak, though this doesn't cause too many problems. More frustrating is the deep lip that extends into the basket - it goes deep enough that it prevents coffee being distributed to the edges of the basket. This means you need to do more distribution with the funnel removed, defeating the purpose of the funnel. I sawed off all but 1mm of the lip and sanded the sawn edge smooth - it works much better now.- the branding - please, just, no

The description claims that this is compatible with the Delonghi ec860. It is not. The portafilter is not held tightly against the maching meaning that water comes down the outside of the portafilter and into the coffee, thus ruining it.The retaining lugs on the Delonghi portafiler are fractionally thicker but that fraction makes all the difference. Disappointing. Now I have the hassle of returning it.
