In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Comfy sneakers!
I bought these shoes to wear during my two week trip to Spain because I didn't want to use my running shoes (I like to save them strictly for running/training). They are lightweight and comfortable and I had no problems wearing them ALL DAY long. I put a lot of mileage on them during that trip and they were always comfortable. They are a little difficult to get on (with or without socks) but once on, they are great and felt true to size for me. They are meant to be worn without socks however, I found that wearing them sockless was a mistake as they didn't wick away sweat which meant my feet and the inside of those shoes smelled really bad after wearing them all day. I let them air out, sprayed them with some Febreeze and wore them with thin, "no show" socks front that point forward and all was good. If you don't have sweaty feet you can probably go sockless with no odor issues. I had initially ordered two pair, one in a 6.5 and one in a 6, because I after reading reviews I thought I better try both sizes since some people indicated they ran small but I feel they ran true to size and I'm typically a size 6 and have wide feet. I liked them so much I ordered another pair when I returned home. I don't plan to use them at the gym because I don't think they have enough support (for me) to use them for workout shoes but they are great sneakers for just kickin' around. Hope my review helps others. Enjoy!

She loved the color and look of the shoe but it ...
Bought this for my girlfriend who normally wears a 7.5. She loved the color and look of the shoe but it was too small. Had to return it. Ended up buying a size 8.5 and fit perfectly. She's worn it for HIIT workouts and says its comfortable with great support.

Good shoe for my needs
These shoes absolutely fit my current needs. I purchased the shoe because I needed something lighter and more flexible for the boxing classes I've been taking at my gym, which include some light cardio. These shoes are just the right weight, as well as being something I can wear on the treadmill. They're very thin, so my ankles don't feel like they have much support, but it's very easy to balance and pivot in them. It also feels like there's a lot of space in the toe area, but that hasn't really interfered with performance. They're pretty easy to pull on, though I'm not always sure how tightly I need to lace them up. It's a little strange that the tongue is attached to the body of the shoe all the way up the side, so there's not much give if you order a size too small. Normally I wear 7.5 but I ordered an 8.5 for this. And 8.25 probably would've been perfect, but that wasn't an option, so these worked fine.

These would be great shoes but they are way too narrow
These would be great shoes but they are way too narrow! I even ordered another size 1/2 size bigger and they squeeze my feet too much to even be comfortable. I couldn't wait to take them off after just a few minutes. It's a shame because they could be really great shoes if they weren't so tight. I don't have a wide foot either, so it's strange that they feel so snug.

New and improved Sana! Even better then the original version.
I loved the original Sana but his, I love even more! It's new and improved. The fit and support are much better that the original and it looks more durable. I use this for cross-training and cardio dance classes. See below for my review on the original Sana. Everything still holds true for this one...but better!!!MY REVIEW FOR THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THIS SHOE:I am in love with these shoes! They are very soft and comfortable and flexible. Perfect for cardio-dance classes, cross-training, HIIT, etc. I don't think this will work for my running routine though because it has very little arch support and it's too minimalist for my liking. I prefer to wear my other Asics shoes that were built for running during my runs. I purchased the pink/purple in a size 7, which is my true size, and will definitely order another is a different color as back-up.UPDATE 10/20/15: Wore it to the gym for the first time last night for HIIT and then a 1 hour cardio-dance class afterwards...these shoes are great!!! The comfort and flexibility are amazing! :)

Buy a whole size bigger and it is a sock type shoe but I love it for my needs.
This is definitely NOT a regular tennis shoe! It is more of a sock with a sole. I read the reviews and did not 'get' when people spoke of the 'tongue'. This is literally one piece like a sock but has laces and a comfortable sole.I actually really do like it. It is comfy and supportive on the bottom for zumba and group fitness classes. But if you need more side support or ankle support, this will not provide that. I can't imagine even trying to wear a sock with it bc it lacks supports. The color is a little brighter than I expected it due to 'shininess'. Not subtle!I read the reviews and bought a whole size larger than usual and I'm so glad I did. This is NOT a wide shoe and very fitted. If I had gotten ANY smaller, I would have to return them.

What a difference the correct shoe can make!
I have been following a great exercise and nutrition program since October. I was having trouble with some of the workouts. My footing wasn't stable in lateral movements, and my shoes would actually hurt the sides of my feet. Someone suggested trying a training shoe, rather than a running shoe (the only kind of sneaker I've ever worn), so I decided to try the Asics Fitness shoe. Suddenly Burpees became easy (well, easier), and lateral movement was no longer an issue. These shoes are very lightweight and comfortable. Others recommended buying a half size larger than your normal shoe size, and that is what I did. The shoes fit perfectly. I am very happy with this shoe!

Sizing is a little off.
These are pretty awesome looking shoes, but they fit very snug. I wear a 5.5 so I decided to order a size 6 to be on the safe side, and as I said, they're still pretty tight. I plan to keep these in hopes that just walking around the gym, lifting weights and treadmill will loosen them up. To give a little further perspective to anyone ordering these in the future, I'm a petite person, my feet are considered small and narrow so if I went up a half size and they're still tight, I might suggest people who fit my body type go up a full size. Otherwise, cool looking shoe and the footbed seems very comfy as well.
