Eight episodes of the popular children's television series. In 'A Friend in Need' Thomas discovers how lucky he is when all his friends pull together to help him after an accident, while in 'Scaredy Engines' the friends are telling each other spooky stories at Halloween and Thomas begins to get scared. 'Percy and the Haunted Mine' finds Percy collecting shrubs from Maithwaite only to find a strange abandoned mine on the way home, and James and Thomas face a dilemma when they are asked to pick up a hot air balloon in 'James and the Red Balloon'. In 'Toby Had a Little Lamb' Toby attempts to rescue Farmer McColls's lambs which are stuck on a hillside, cut off by snow, while in 'Thomas, Percy and the Squeak' Thomas is washed and cleaned especially for an important visitor, only to discover this passenger is a mouse and won't ride with Thomas because he is too clean. 'Edward the Very Useful Engine' follows Edward after the big engines decide he is too old and unreliable to work - he soon proves them wrong though. Finally in 'Rusty Saves the Day' Rheneas and Skarloey have to clean and repair their line in two weeks but they only succeed with the help of Rusty and Elizabeth.

1993 Re-release of coal and other stories, a great way to end season 1
I am an American, and when i was a Kid Thomas the Tank Engine was my favorite show! But as a kid, my favorite narrator was Ringo Starr and in the US we got 42(41 if you don't count the infamous edit of Thomas & The Missing Christmas Tree), that's why when i found out from YouTube a few years ago that we never got all of the Ringo Starr Narrations i had to get all of the UK VHS's with his narration, and i did with my PAL VHS player. Down The Mine was a re-re-release of Coal and Other Stories which was released by Kaleidoscope with the VCI in 1985, and re-released again by VCI in 1988 with a different intro of the name-board sequence, and again in 1993, and again in 2002. I own the original 1985 release and this 1993 re-release. This has some of my favorite stories from Season 1, Henry's Speical Coal(Coal), The Flying Kipper, Whistles And Sneezes, Thomas Breaks The Rules(Thomas In Trouble), James In A Mess(Dirty Objects) to name a few but my favorite was always Gordon Takes A Dip(off the rails) and Down The Mine. In the US we got these in a different format, infact we didn't even get Whistles & Sneezes until the 10th VHS! We got the episodes on our vol 3, 4, 5, 10, and a Christmas special VHS unless we owned the shining time station special. The version of the VHS i got has an echo track which i think is cool! I give this VHS 5 stars for anyone because this is some of my favorite episodes of season 1. It was a great way to end season 1!

Great Condition but different packaging
This arrived quicker than I expected, it's in great condition. Not to be an obsessive over little details but the video cover I got is different to the one advertised in the photo; it's the 2002 repackaging instead of the 1993 one shown in the photo above. Otherwise, great purchase.
